Excellent tasting menu here the food was excellent and very creative. Service was fantastic much improved from when we went a few months ago. Venison was the best dish on the tasting menu it will be tough to beat.

Lunch The Boat Inn with Chef Liam DillonAbsolutely gorgeous 😍... and the food ain't bad either😃We've been a big fan of Liam and the food he serves is amazing 👏We had the 3 course set lunch £40 with sides of Hispi cabbage & Beef fat chips.(Just look😃 at them chips😋)Which we feel is great value for such top quality produce cooked to perfection.Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. We were lucky enough to sit at the chef's 👨‍🍳 table right in front of all the action. It was lovely watching 👀 all the kitchen working together and Liam orchestrating it all.Thought we were watching another episode of Great British menu and we would of scored a 10 definitely. All the staff were lovely and very professional.Thank you to Liam and all his team for a great visit. If you find this useful give a 👍

So good even your bag gets a chair! The food was next level and you must go for the accompanying wines chosen for the 4 or 6 course menus. We were blown away with the whole experience topped off by the friendly and helpful staff.Go and try for yourself, we'll definitely be going again.

Booked a table, as we’ve just moved to the area. Found a little gem of a place can’t wait to return to the boat inn, in The summer. Staff were really friendly & very welcoming.

My husband and I dined at the Boat for the first time last Friday. We were greeted on arrival and sat down in the restaurant, and water was served. The waiter informed us that the waitress would be over shortly, and off he went. The restaurant was not busy, in fact we had only booked our reservation the night before. We waited for nearly 15 minutes, and despite there being several staff around the restaurant, no one came to take our drinks order. I left our table and approached a staff member to ask for a drinks menu, which did arrive shortly after, and eventually drinks were served. I had red wine and it came in a rather odd glass, somewhat like a half pint glass, I prefer my red wine in more of a goblet glass, but it seemed that all wines were served in the same style glass red and white. We then waited again for a food menu, this never came either. over came the waitress to ask us what menu we would like to have, and we had to reply "we don't know as we have had no menu" Off she went to get them, and we finally ordered. The food started to appear, and seemed ok until the fish course was served. My husband found a very large bone in his fish, and this put him off finishing the dish. The manager came over, and took the bone over to the kitchen to speak to the team. She was apologetic, and asked us if we would like another drink, which we declined. When we had finished our meal the waitress informed us that she was taking 5% off the fish dish due to the kitchens error. Now this restaurant has 3 rosette's and they certainly try and be something special, but frankly they are not. They had plenty of staff in the restaurant that night, but they seemed inexperienced to say the least, and that is clearly down to lack of training. They are charging on the back of their awards, but not meeting customers expectations in any way.I did contact the Boat to tell them about our experience, and they offered us a glass of wine when we next return, however that would not entice me to return , as several areas let our visit down. I have also found the owner Liam, really very arrogant and rude during our correspondence, and with his attitude I would never set foot in this place again. I urge others to visit Adams in Birmingham if your after a faultless dining and serving experience, they really are the best around, and treat their customers with utter respect, unlike Liam !

Chefs Table Experience - Thank you to Liam Dillon and his team at The Boat Inn for a fabulous chefs table experience. The experience as whole is amazing especially from being a pastry chef and watching the team work and putting dishes together with perfection… It was a lovely birthday treat. Thank you…

4th time here and still as good! Now has some stiff competition in Lichfield, but this place is still pretty awesome!

I had the pleasure of dining at the chefs table on 9th October with good friends. We had the 7 course tasting menu. The food quality and presentation on the plates was exceptional, every ingredient on the plate made sense and had been prepared with care and attention to detail. My personal favourite courses were the cod that came with a beautiful creamy sauce and the lemon/honeycomb pre dessert. The front of house team looked after our every need ( I think we were quite a demanding table!) and they have got the balance of friendliness and formality just right. It was a special evening for our group of friends and I'm very glad we chose to spend it at The Boat Inn.

Have visited 3 times now in last 3 months and each time the food has been outstanding! Service from team is also fantastic. Thankfully its a local restaurant to us and no other restaurants stands up against this one in our area.

Understated decor allows for the food to shine. The staff are polite, knowledgeable and whilst attentive they don't hover. The little touches such as a sage leaf on a crisp white napkin, warm savory filled doughnuts were a delightful amuse bouche. The round cobs of freshly baked bread with several butters including one topped with crunchy nuggets of chicken skin, allow the senses to be teased before the glorious starters such as the scallop or a cheese custard were served. Main courses were equally as superb, my main course involved melting beef, smooth, delectable mash and tender stem broccoli, accompanied by a towering, crisp Yorkshire pudding. The chocolate parfait with peanut butter ice cream and aero bubbled white chocolate was smooth, delicious and heavenly. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Boat. This deserves Michelin Stars.
