Where is The Red Lion?

🏠 Hay Ln, Longdon Green, Rugeley WS15 4QF

"The Red Lion enjoys a very attractive aspect looking out across the village green, and our spacious garden room makes the most of the pleasant landscape. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis is a proper pub, with the bar at the heart of the building helping to create a friendly, chatty atmosphere. For fine days we have a large suntrap of a terrace, and from our garden you can enjoy the knock of leather on willow drifting across from the adjacent cricket pitch. When the weather turns, come inside and you"

Visited here by chance on the way back from the peak district. The weather was great so sat outside. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, food was lovely and decent portions. They also gave my dog lots of fuss and treats. Only a shame we don't live closer to visit again.

Was looking forward to this meal with my wife only to be sadly disappointed given our food before our drinks were even served, No check back to see if we were happy, If they had we could shown them the cold raw meat, Asked for a steak knife to try and cut this meat which didn’t work. What seemed like Aunt Bessie’s roast potatoes topped with raw with think leeks. From start to finish we were there 25 minute…. Will be giving this a miss in future which is a shame

A lovely dog friendly pub, nice range of beers and wines.Staff are always friendly and helpful. One of our favourite pubs to visit.

Nice, relaxed rural restaurant feel. Great homemade quality to the food with attentive service.I had as a main a delicious steak and ale pie with mash and veg, followed by light and explosive bread and butter pudding for dessert.Throughly satisfied!I’d recommend

The restaurant was decorated very nice and the staff were welcoming. The brownie dessert could have been served warmer and with the Chessecake, we asked for vanilla ice cream but instead got dark chocolate. Minor issue as it tasted great. The Red Lion was a lovely country pub on the edge of Rugeley.Great company, outstanding food and a quiant interior just like the rest of the B & P pubs.I would recommend it. Attentive and friendly customer service from the team. The lamb was divine; So tender it fell off the bone and dauphinoise potatoes are my absolute favouriteThe white chocolate and orange marmalade cheese cake was unique and different. The marmalade is a good accompliment with the cheese cake. The sticky pork belly was rich in flavour.Overall I would rate this experience a 9 out of 10.

We were hoping for a special night for New Year’s Eve, the food was lovely and all allergy needs were met by the chefs without hassle which was brilliant- thank you.Waitress service was slow considering there were only us and 2 other tables of 2 in our area for most of the night, the lady we had also made a fuss of small things such as changing ice cream flavours which were already listed on the menu and asking for just a dash of squash in a drink rather than a full measure which wasn’t really needed.I also didn’t really appreciate hearing the snide sarcastic comments she made about our party while we were there, we weren’t a loud or drunk party and it really took the shine off the evening. Safe to say we won’t be returning or recommending the restaurant to others.

Boxing day meal was poor, staff missed items off the order and the food was below par. The price didn't represent the quality and it was rather embarrassing as we recommended The Red Lion to family.Genuinely difficult to find any positives, overall the staff were great however, after realizing they had missed the children's deserts, we asked to order them on the day. At first they said no, until I directly spoke to the manager.Final comment, after a three course meal you should not be hungry! Regardless of whether it's the Christmas period or not 😆 could have easily been a 1 star to be honest.

Went for a meal on my partner's birthday as has a good glutten free menu and recommended by friends and family. Excellent meals and surroundings. We will be going again.

A very disappointing Christmas family meal that was certainly not worth the price charged. Surroundings were lovely and staff doing their best, but the food was a let down. Hard inedible roast potatoes, no decent vegetables, no Christmas trimmings and one meal had very undercooked beef which had to be sent back for cooking. Our plates went back barely touched. The three grandchildren were charged adult prices for starters and desert and none were impressed with their meals and ate little. My family and I have had far far better for less money. A large bill with very little to show for it. It’s a no from me.

Beautiful pub/surroundings, delicious food and really friendly staff - wouldn't have changed a thing!
