The same as its always been!! We came here years ago and thought it was a lovely setting, a drink right by the canal. But when ordering food there was always something that had run out on the menu or something missing off the plate. Service has always been fairly slow. Well today was no exception. Same service, no smiles no light snacks left on menu and chips missing from plate. Food dry, wrong chips sent and very expensive. We only came here as we were at an event nearby but wont be coming back. Its a shame.

My husband, daughter and myself had the vegan roast one Sunday a couple of weeks ago. It was AMAZING!! One of the best I've ever had. We chatted in the garden with one of the chefs who had just finished. He was lovely, and fetched water and scraps for our dogs, so they loved it too! Would definitely recommend this pub .

Good location next to the canal with extensive garden area. Friendly staff. Strangely pizzas were off for some reason the evening we visited but plenty of other choices.

Every time we come here for holidays from Switzerland, we must come to the Tame Otter at least once. It is a lovely place where the serve deliciuos food

Quite an inconsistent pub. The service in here never seems particularly great - the staff never seem welcoming or approachable and this is surely an issue when they’re front of house team members? I had an incident where I’d paid for extras and not received them, I spoke very politely to a member of staff that was relatively dismissive and did not rectify this or offer to which is frustrating. I also don’t want or expect to have to fetch my own cutlery after paying £15 for a burger just because I’m sitting outside - the meal is the same price as those ordered by people sitting inside. The reality is, if you want to charge people £5.20 for a pint you should at least have staff that actually want to be there and can interact with customers adequately. I feel like this is a pub which relies on the fact that there’s nothing as “quaint” in the area and they assume they don’t need to make an effort anymore which is a shame as the food is always delicious and the pub itself is very pretty.

Excellent food, loads of tables and a great choice of food. Family of 7 served without any problems, highly recommended

We go here sometime as it's reasonably dog friendly, but the service is very hit and miss. Last visit we failed to get a side order ordered despite chasing with the waitress but was still in the bill. Also we asked for sauces but it seemed to be a chore for the waitress who brought a virtually empty bottle over, no smiles.Prices are high for what you get but generally good quality and tasty. Last visit cost almost £70 for three main meals and five drinks, no starters or deserts.Would recommend The Fox over it as more consistent and they really are very dog friendly.

The food we had was slow to be served and there was very little choice left on the menu, however the waitress who took our order was very apologetic but we were waiting almost an hour for our main.

I cannot fault the service of Phil and his team today for our Sunday lunch.I had originally booked in to go round the corner at the Fox Inn but after a bad experience from the front of house team I drove here to check if any availability, Phil did everything he could for us and moved things around to fit us in. We were seated in a lovely private area and had a lovely waitress called Danielle, she was so attentive and friendly. Food was stunning and came out within a reasonable time, will definitely be back again soon
