Very good environment for a good dinner with friends. The signature steak was the most tender piece of meat ever tasted! I recommend medium, though the chef had suggested medium rare - but that is down to personal taste I guess. Service was friendly and accommodating. We will happily return to the place during daylight to try outside space too. Highly recommended!

Absolutely love it here, we go quite often and the food is always excellent. Definitely recommend the ham hock!! Staff are very polite, sometimes a long wait to initially take a drinks order. Recommend a visit

Been a fair while since I last visited. Set in the village (hamlet) of Wall just off the A5. A good menu but be prepared to pay a little more and you may find you need to add a side to a few choices. Immaculately presented. Staff attentive. Wash room facilities Ladies/Gents are upstairs. Give it a try.

One of the BEST Sunday roasts I have had in a long time. We were served by wonderful, friendly, helpful, happy staff. Would totally recommend a visit to anyone.

Went here last Tuesday for a meal .. what's disaster. We booked after friend's recommended the trooper. We arrived to a not so friendly grunt and your table is here. The order was taken and went to the kitchen 1hour and 15 minutes later on a very quiet night our food arrived. Not the warmest and I have to say not the best iv tasted. We have 2 young children and their meals were served 5 minutes later than the main meals of that of the adults. After the disaster of the food and service to our horror the pub started filling with smoke and al the manager and the other staff could do was laugh and try to waft the smoke with a menu.We went home £211 worse off for a absolute shambolic and below par service and very average but yet overpriced food. And to boot a We all smelt of smoke and our clothing too.still awaiting a call from the owner ... Good job I'm not holding my breath.AVOID AVOID AVOID

Beautiful pub off the beaten track. Really pretty outside space. Food was amazing, it's now my favourite place to eat. Very busy though at weekends. Staff are lovely.

Had a pleasant afternoon, tried the bottomless lunch and was very impressed. Food was excellent and drinks topped up when required. The restaurant was packed but got served quickly by the staff, hats off to them for doing an excellent job under busy conditions

My partner and I went here for Christmas dinner. It was very disappointing. More so for the money we paid. We would have got a better meal at McDonald’s for a fraction of the price. Started off when we walked in, it was so overcrowded. Staff did not greet us. When we managed to attract a member of staff to notify them of our arrival, they looked at us as if we were an hindrance. We were booked in for 4pm and had to remind staff at 4.10pm and 4.20pm that we were still waiting to be seated. It was a 5 course meal. Every course was cold. From the soup to the main meal. It was evident that they took more bookings than they could manage as the staff looked stressed and overworked to a point that customer satisfaction went out the window. This is a lovely Venue, shame the service let them and us down.

My wife and i fancied a steak after a 36hr fast! I wanted to find an independent gastro pub where steaks are usually better. The trooper is not far from home so we went for it.Wow wow wow. What a great choice of steaks. I went for a T Bone and my wife had a rib eye. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned.Good value for the quality which is what counts for me.Well done all and see you again soon

This is is such a lovely place overlooking fields so pretty. The staff are very friendly. The food is great. They do a bottomless brunch that I will definitely be returning to have very soon. Great outdoor seating area . Was a sunny day so was so nice. They have a cover & heaters if you wish to have that. Would definitely recommend to go here.
