Arriving 15mins before official morning opening time, the kind barman let us in for very welcome pints of cider. We'd walked cross country for a few miles and this proved to be the lovely traditional village pub like you always hope to find. Beautifully decorated and featuring it's own perfect accessory - a fabulous black Labrador called Bruce who sat with us for tickles and fusses for as long as we were prepared to give them. A couple of plates of cheesy chips for an early snack competed the rural picture. The only thing lacking from our point of view was a choice of coeliac suitable gluten free food but we can't expect that everywhere. Overall a very nice place that's resisted updating and is better for it. Thank you.

Just like to say a very big Thank you to both the management and staff of the bird in the hand public house for putting on a wonderful wake in memory of my Aunt Angela. You did the whole family proud, from the lovely food to the most wonderful friendly barman.Such a lovely pub that we hope to visit in the not to distant future.

Im afraid we did not receive a warm welcome, we were on our way to the church and came across this beautiful old pub with a thatched roof and an old stone cross outside the front. We was approached by a man who came rushing out the pub who has no idea on the law and told us we can not photograph the pub, we were in the street on public land so we can.He told us what we were doing is weird and we can not take any photographs on public land of the pub. We told him we have took the photographs we wanted and going to the church. He then went back into the pub as we were walking to the church.I do not know who this bloke thinks he is speaking to members of the public like this and telling us what we can and cant do, but the lack of knowledge of this guy has lost custom today as we were planning to go in after we had finished photographing the church.

Went out with my mate to do photography, seen the pub on the way to the church , thought it looked great for a photo, the landlord rushing out and was very rude to us, I said it looked a great pub and he said don’t take anymore photos, he might need educating to know that you can take photos in public, we went to the lovely church to take photos, we where going to the pub for food before he put us off, obviously got something to hide, avoid at all costs,
