Wolferstan Arms in North Warwickshire

What can I say? I used to work here, 15 years ago for 2 years. I have a lot of fond memories of the place and I was part of the staff that were trained in the 2-4-1 restaurant process that the pub was to become. Tonight, I took my mom, dad, partner and son here to eat, having booked a table (proudly stating this is a nice place I used to work here). Instead, I couldn’t have been more embarrassed and disappointed.Upon entering the restaurant, which did not seem to be that busy, there did not seem to be a clear area to announce your arrival and that you’ve booked a table. Instead, I queued at the haphazard queue in the bar (where nobody seemed sure who was ahead of who or where the queue started). To be fair to the barmaid, she disappeared to find out where we should be sitting. At now 10 past 6pm ( it took that long to be seen too), we were shown to a table for 4 next to the open front door, and a 2nd table was added and quickly cleaned down for us to seat. The hostess then disappeared and we were left at the table.We waited for 5-10 minutes without being seen to, with no menu, so I went back to the bar and was given 4 menus, printed lopsided on a4 paper. I had to ask if this was waited on service or bar service, and was told this was bar service. Fine… this happens in restaurants, but we should have been told this when we were seated and at least given menus. Instead we were left with no menus and no idea how we were to order. Not only that, there was a lady walking dogs through the restaurant where people were eating, waiting at the bar right next to our table. The table was, as stated, right next to the open front door so we were also getting cold. I was so annoyed and embarrassed at this point I could not even focus on the menu as I was looking at it. My dad was fuming. So we left without ordering.When I worked there, there was table service, waiters and waitresses taking food and drinks orders, offering the menus, stating if there’s any specials, offering starters and desserts - basically providing a restaurant quality service. What I experienced tonight was not restaurant quality. It was less than local pub quality and I cannot recommend to anybody to eat here for a special occasion or for a dining experience - only if they were going out for drinks at somewhere that happened to serve food.I was absolutely disgusted, embarrassed and disappointed. Nobody even bothered to ask us why we were leaving either.

Found myself in right pickle, found a wonderful establishment with the most welcoming staff I have ever encountered.Jayne is a lovely lady who welcomed myself and my friend for a cheeky pint at such a unusual time of day.Holly and Sarah are absoltuley lovely ladies who were charming and wonderful.Thank you for the beer and accommodating us. I shall visit again.

Me and my friend had a lovely meal in the Wolferstan Arms this evening. We both had a burger as it was what we fancied and it did not disappoint! We had the cauliflower bites from the starter menu as a side dish and they were beautiful! Great value for money and portion sizes were good too! A real nice atmosphere and we had a great evening having a catch up.The staff were really friendly and helpful and served us with a smile. Claire in particular was great with us and we had a friendly conversation whilst she served us at the bar, an absolute credit to the place! Thank you for an enjoyable evening!

Been a long time since our last visit and can say they have really improved their hospitality. We went on the off chance to get a table for four and was seen to straight away.The meals was dished at a high standard. Full of flavour. Staff was very friendly and making sure we had everything we needed. We shall be coming again. Thank you to the team 😁

Didn't manage to sample the beer on this occasion but three of us had the steak and ale pie. We all agreed that it was excellent, in quality and quantity and taste. We were made welcome from the moment we arrived. Speedy and friendly service.

A great experience and lovely food. Always a pleasure to visit and spend some quality time with our friends of 30 years. Never feel pressured to leave. So a very relaxed pleasant time had by all. Staff professional very friendly and helpful. Couldn't want for more. Thank you. C u again soon.

We booked our table here as we was going to work on a ghost hunting event and the location was only 20 mins journey away.When we placed our food order, we was made aware it could be around a 40 min wait, due to a large party just placing their order. The meal came out to our table in less than that time. The food was amazing and quite filling. The service was was fab as always.

We used to go to The Wolferstan regularly a couple of years ago , but since Covid we were very wary about going into a pub again .We needn't have worried. We were greeted with a smile by Rob who showed us to a table , and made us feel very welcome .We ordered beer battered cod and chips and didn't have to wait long .It came well presented and hot( crispy batter and crispy chips ) Excellent meal .Had a chat with Jayne the manager before we left and said how much we had enjoyed our experience today ,and that we would be back .Thank you Jayne and Rob

First time here after a recommendation! Value for money and Sunday roast was lovely although would have preferred more gravy! Bar staff really friendly and will definitely return

The staff were all absolutely amazing! Nothing was too much trouble and they were rushed off their feet. The food was outstanding, plenty of it and was served on hot plates! A real winner to me. I have dietary restrictions and they checked everything (again) with me before serving it. Our Christmas experience was second to none, you could not fault anything. Thank you to everyone who made our Christmas very special. We will be back very soon! Xx
