Where is The Royal Forester?

🏠 Callow Hill, Kidderminster DY14 9XW

"The Royal Forester Inn is Bewdley's own bed and breakfast, pub, and traditional inn. We have 7 en-suite rooms available to explorers and dog walkers of the Severn Valley and beyond. The Royal Forester Country Inn is reputed to be one of the county's oldest inns. A refurbishment in March 2018 has added to the charm of the building, so we are well equipped for all visitors. We have earned the AA breakfast award in 2018 and have held an AA Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence since 2008. We are child- and dog-friendly, and you're more than welcome to stay the night with us or just drop in for some food and drinks at our restaurant and pub. We are very proud to have won Channel4's Four in a bed in 2014!"

Good value for money rooms good size and very clean. The meal we had in the evening and the breakfast were excellent. Will definitely stay there again when in the area.

Pound for pound a superb place to stay. Clean, tidy rooms. Good location. Great pub food and drinks. Excellent breakfast. I will be back.

Very disappointing. Such a lovely, quirky place just a shame the food and staff let them down. The staff were quite young and were doing their best but the man behind the bar (in more casual clothing), who I am assuming was the manager, had a terrible attitude. Abrupt and quite rude. Some of the starters looked lovely, especially the fish cakes, but others were very disappointing. The most expensive starter, the chicken liver parfait, tasted quite strange and was hidden under an unrecognisable layer of pink gloop. I had the avocado & chimichurri bruscetta which looked disgusting and tasted even worse. What were they thinking to even attempt to serve it? I couldn't eat it.Whilst we were eating, a customers dog that wasn't on a lead, kept coming over to the table and was jumping on the sofas and up on the seated bar area. Several of the waiting staff, including the manager (who had just been standing at the till wiping his nose with the back of his hand ) and a female member of bar staff (who was constantly biting her nails) were petting the dog and carrying on serving without washing their hands. I was offered a dessert instead of my starter. I refused! Our main courses were served but we had no cutlery. When we finally got the waitresses attention, a bucket of cutlery was unceremoniously dumped on the table. The oil in the fryer obviously needed changing as the fish & chips (almost black, soggy potato wedges) were very oily and served with stone cold peas. As for the salmon, the portions were a decent size but were overcooked & dry inside. It was served with cold broccoli and lentil dhal that was so spicey, some people couldn't eat it.No one came over to our table during the meal to check if everything was ok and it was very difficult to get the attention of the staff. When I went to pay, the manager made no attempt to apologise.I'm sorry to say that quite a few of our large party will not be back again.

Had a lovey steak meal home made onion rings were fab. Nice and friendly staff.

·

Extremely well run quiz on Sunday evening with highly competitive locals welcoming newcomers. Relaxed atmosphere among the staff and management which added to the experience. Good food at breakfast and dinner. Very convenient for Wyre Forest.

Quick stop fir breakfast. Best full English I've had in a while. Lovey old fashioned Inn great food and excellent service. Recommend stopping in for food and drinks.

Great food. However, such a shame that we were made to feel such an inconvenience to the senior member of bar staff. She clearly isn't happy in her position. We wanted to enjoy desert and coffee but left as we were ignored for so long. When I challenged her on her demeanour she continued her attitude towards us. I know that Sean would not be happy to hear this. A great shame!

Amazing place, just popped in after going to the safari park and we were blown away by the friendly hospitality, the menu was very comprehensive and we choose the Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding and we were not disappointed, every thing was cooked to perfection.Drop in and we won't be disappointed by my recommendation.

Unfortunately we visited today for a Sunday lunch and it was just awful. All of the veg was under cooked (not al dente) with no flavour at all. The roast potatoes again had absolutely no taste of any seasoning whatsoever. The gravy was extremely watery and just tasted like cold oil, again with no flavour. We went for the pork belly sharer which was 99.9% fat. We love pork belly because of the crackling but it would of been nice to have some meat there was probably one fork full between the two of us. We had the wings to start which had way too much soy sauce in the marinade so they were way too salty. Our daughter had the battered fish which she also didn't eat, it smelt very fishy and had a mushy texture. We had drinks which were lovely and our bill was around £75, but unfortunately all left hungry, apart from our 2yo who ate all of his nuggets and chips.Such a shame because we love the venue and the staff.I think it was probably the most tasteless meal we have ever had.We never complained as it would of been embarrassing complaing about everything bar the nuggets. We did visit a few weeks back for lunch and the food was beautiful so not sure what happened today.

AT LAST! A brilliant hotel/guest house that got it all right! A very friendly welcome, lovely food, spotless room, fantastic facilities, hot and easy to use shower and bath, large, comfy bed, lots of space and storage, soft carpet... it was all spot on. Oh and the check out time is 11 (perfect) and breakfast served till midday! A great break from the trend for earlier and earlier breakfast and curck out times, to suit the owners over the guests. Perhaps a little noisy till the pub closed but other than that, I must give this stay full marks and thank the staff for their kindness and professionalism.
