There is obviously new management here since our last visit a couple of years ago.We dropped in today and was amazed at the difference.From first contact with the lovely lady behind the bar and throughout our visit, the service was friendly, welcoming and very attentive.Hats off to Ian, who seemed to be rushing around, doing the job of many, he smashed it with a constant smile.Courses ran smoothly, no long wait in between.Can't fault the food, service or location.Very pleasant experience all round.

2nd time been to the black smith Arms Ryton Sunday lunch is brilliant the roast beef melts in your mouth and separate dish of cauliflower cheese is gorgeous friendly staff always make you feel welcome very atentative will recommend highly will be back again well done 👏

Nice pub, comfortable and very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and allows dogs which is super! Food is well priced, standard style pub food with a pizza menu and great pudding menu.However the service was very slow and needs improvement. The food was left under the lights too long and went dry. However will definitely be back and give it a few more goes with it being our local.They have a pub quiz which is great but they need to improve the sound quality to make it a more enjoyable experience as it's hard to hear the quiz master.

Absolutely wonderful place with the warmest of welcomes. The landlord and staff couldn't have done more. the food is absolutely delicious, amazing value for money and I just wish we lived closer to visit again! Definitely going to try to get back though! On of the best pubs we've been too!

Lovely pub with amazing staff and great atmosphere. Love the fact they're trying to make as many dishes possible home-made... Even the cheesecakes! We'll definitely be back :). The ribs were amazing and so big!

Arrived at 3pm, order taken at 3:05pm, food served at 4:30pm and the place was empty - god only knows what it would be like if it was busy.Our food was about to be served and was then told they'd run out of beef.Girl took the order in full when we arrived including orders for desserts. After we'd had our mains she came back asking if we wanted dessert....Overheard staff in kitchen shouting about the cauliflower cheese sauce had run out, so saw staff running back into the kitchen with a sachet of colemans cheese sauce.Chef was bringing the food to the table so I guess they were short staffed as well. The owner is nice but cannot make up for dreadful service. Food was so so.Also not entirely the fault of the pub, but the conservatory doors are left open with people smoking cigarettes just outside the doors. So a lovely waft of cigarette smoke permeates into to the restaurant.
