Absolutely wonderful little pub, reminds me of home being from the countryside. Maybe a little pricy but it is worth it for the fresh food and full plates, don't know anywhere else to give you your money's worth in food. The staff are really kind and helpful, there seems to be a nice selection of dogs to pet too which is always a bonus! A real community pub and a little gem in such a wonderful village!

It is a nice old pub in a lovely village. Unfortunately I discovered, when more than half way through my drink, lipstick on the edge of my glass. I wasn't wearing any!

Came across pub one evening, quaint old fashioned beamed with lots of character. Was very busy but the welcoming staff sorted a table. Ordered the steak and ale pie without doubt it was the best steak pie we've had in a decade. Full of tender meat. If only it wasn't 90 minutes drive away 😩

Went for lunch at the Blue pig yesterday and we were very disappointed. My vegetarian lasagne was mainly made up of cheese and pasta. The gentleman that runs the pub stood outside having a cigarette and then served food. Didn't seem to be any proper waiting staff.Won't go back which is a shame as it used to be a lovely pub.

We have just been for an evening meal, I chose Lasagna, the first dish the waitress took straight back, the second was no better, it had half an inch of partly cooked cheese on top of meat, maybe a slice of pasta. As it was my birthday I was very disappointed and won’t be going again.

Food was excellent however manner of the older gentleman running front of house was dissapointing. Was rushing us at our table then said they were to busy to serve us a coffee with our dessert. Shame as the rest of the staff were lovely.

Food was tasty, could of done with being warmer. Value for money as you had plenty. Staff need to be more attentive we were a starter short and no option for desserts or hot drinks to end the meal.

What a great little find of a gem of a pub. Beautiful ambiance in a 600 year old rustic building. The staff were so friendly and made sure our visit was very welcoming. The food was hot, tasty and huge portions. I had breaded mushrooms for my starter and the amount would easily have fed 2 of us. For my main course i had chicken sizzler with half chips and half rice. I chose the teriyaki sauce which was full of flavour. Wow, remind me to starve myself before my next visit just so i can eat it all next time. If you order onion rings be prepared, they are the biggest crispy rings ive ever seen. Totally recommend for a visit any day.

Wanted to like it, food was so bad! I had French onion soup which was thick and bland but they tried to put a crouton on at least! Then had the teriyaki beef sizzler which I just couldn't eat, it even set off the fire alarm!Won't be going back, no redeeming features unfortunately.

Working away again with some time in between so thought I pop into a local pub on the way back down. I heard this place was good so thought I would give it a go. The pub is a husband and wife team consisting of Trina and Brian. In a village outside Hinckley called Wolvey, there's plenty of parking. Social distancing was fully maintained inside this pub.A varied menu was on offer with many items to choose from.Service was very quick and prompt here.Today we have the following;Starter: Lamb Kofta - simple but effective dish. Cooked well done. Tasted great!Main: Gammon Steak 8oz Chips Pineapple and PeasClassic dish at the pub and one of my favs. Chips were large and crisly. Gammon cooked well with little fat visible.Dessert: Vanilla ice cream sundae.3 scoops, whipped cream and a flake. Classic 99 recipe right there. Smooth and rich in flavour.Great value for money coming in at £13.90 after the discount with one drinkWould definitely recommend 10/10Both Trina + Brian are actively working and talking to customers so its nice to see this touch. Always great to support the independent pubs. There was a lovely girl who also appeared to be training and starting out with their support.#eatouttohelpoutNo.3
