Denbigh Arms in Rugby

Fantastic value carvery at £9.95! Four different meats, all succulent, and enough vegetables and gravy to sink a battleship. Fully recommended. Won't mark them down but we think one of the waiting staff had escaped from a Kevin & Perry sketch!

We went to the Denbigh Arms today for the first time after hearing nothing but good reviews from friends amd on social media.Their carvery is what we were interested in and saw they were doing a deal under 12s eat free so thought it was a perfect time to seeing as our youngest is just young enough to qualify (sadly only for a couple of months) and carvery is her favourite thing.Booking a table was a very quick simple phonecall and you can see why it needs to be booked. It is a proper village pub with various small rooms for diners so capacity isn't huge, you don't feel packed in though as there is plenty of room around the tables they have and it's a really nice homely place to be.The carvery itself had a choice of 4 meats, Turkey, Beef, Pork and Gammon plus a Yorkshire pudding (my wife was cheeky and asked for 2 and they let her have an extra one). Roast and mashed potato, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, green beans, peas, carrots and a very nice mixture which I think was leak and bacon mashed up (might have had other things in it and it was very nice) so loads of choice there, a wonderful looking cauldron full of gravy and the usual sauces you would expect.Between us we had a bit of all 4 meats and all were brilliant. The Gammon was my favourite as it was just falling apart and very tasty. The veg was fantastic and really good quality, the only thing I would say was that the roasties were new potatoes and I'm not keen on them roasted but saying that, they were better than I have had them before so I can't really complain.The very best thing about the carvery was that the free kids one was just a normal plate and she was able to have basically an adult portion with no restrictions, we did ask about this first as we would have paid for her if it was restricted but were very happy that she could have what she liked.We managed to fit in a pudding (just), they have a selection that can change so not a set pudding menu, between us we had a Berry Eton Mess, Rhubarb Crumble, lemon Roulade and Ice Cream (choice of about 6 flavours). All were very tasty, not big but definitely big enough after a large meal.All the staff were really friendly and helpful and you could tell they enjoyed working there.We will absolutely be going there again, we had a look at the normal menu and there is loads of choice if carvery isn't your thing and all is very reasonably priced. The Carverys were £7.95 each which is fantastic valus for what you get, you pay that at a generic chain pub carvery that has little character and bland food so for the quality here it's brilliant.I highly recommended this pub for a lovely meal out, remember to call and book as apparently it does get really busy, all the tables we saw were reserved today.

I'll start by saying that the staff were good - cheery and attentive. However, lunch wasn't good! Firstly there were many menu shortages so it was limited. Not a major issue, as the menu is quite extensive. Opted for the belly pork with mash and red cabbage (where was the red cabbage?), and fish pie with chips and peas. Peas were overcooked to the point of oblivion. Tip - peas should be the same colour on the plate as they were when they left the bag!! The fish pie was really just cheesy mash with a couple of pieces of fish and definitely no prawns as per the menu. Why serve a potato topped pie with a side of more potato?? Hopefully it was just an 'off day' but first impressions count and they weren't good.

First time here for Sunday lunch, great food and every table filled. Table service can be a bit slow for drinks but I get it, they are open and I can live with it. They are clearly doing the best they can and with a smile on their faces. Well done will be coming back and anyone reading this who hasn't been give it a try(but not when I need to book a table) 😁

Called in on speck, having not used the place for a couple of years.Extremely friendly barstaff who showed my wife and I to a table and took our drinks order. Great pint of Doombar at the right temperature.We both had an 8oz sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection.We will definitely be returning.

Brilliant, they fitted us in after The Barn at Willey let me(despite booking the table in August, they failed to tell me they had a private function on December 11th!!!)Luckily The Denbigh got all of us in at the last minute.Nice food, decent price.

Beautiful pub, delicious food and great real ale in beautiful surroundings inside and out.

Beautiful meal, still table service, and masks to be worn. Lovely, quaint pub. Joined by the residents chickens.
