a friend and I ate at The Golden Lion last night and had a beautiful meal. . I can’t wait to go back to order the meat pie as my friend enjoyed it so much. The service was great , the restaurant attractive though sadly a little quiet when we arrived at 6 pm. I’ll definately be back as soon as aI can

This hotel is great, lovely clean rooms, bathroom was immaculate. Pub/restaurant side cheap drinks compared to where I live, food was excellent and staff could not do enough for you. The only issue I had was the timing of breakfast. I had to be at a course for 9am, not knowing the area I needed to give myself plenty of time to get there and sort myself out and that's hard when breakfast is between 8am and 9am. Overall I had a great stay. Thank you

The Golden Lion is a small family run and owned hotel with 8 quiet rooms attached to an ancient Inn with good restaurant for breakfast and evening meals. First rate English breakfast included. Rooms are excellent, a cut above the usual and all have both bath and shower. Why go to a chain hotel when you can get better for the same price?

Mothers Day Carvery Meal.Well, first let myself state, that this was actually our third visit to the Golden Lion at Easenhall, and not once have we been disappointed with either the food (quality or quantity), and the service provided. Our first visit was just myself and my lovely wife, Sunday roast dinner, meats already plated, you just add the rest. From this excellent first dining experience, we decided to book a table for four persons, a month later, as a Birthday celebration meal for my mother in law, also accompanied by the father in law.Again on the second visit to the Golden Lion, we had another amazing dining experience, this time is was a Carvery dinner. Great organisation by the table waiting staff, once all had finished the starter dishes, you are invited to attend the Carvery, one table at a time, no long queues, no pushing, as per our Toby experiences!Again the food was cooked to an excellent standard, nice and hot, fully enjoyed by the four of us, so the dessert course just had to be pursued. At the serving of the desserts, my Mother in laws dessert was slightly delayed 🤔, we soon found out why.A candle placed into a chocolate fudge brownie, certainly seconds as a birthday cake, along with the staff singing “Happy Birthday to You”, really made a nice surprise for my mother in law, 👏.Our visit again today was a Mother’s Day celebration meal, for my mother in law, this time the party was 6 adults and two children. Again it was a Carvery Sunday dinner, and we were not disappointed, the food was again cooked to an excellent standard, unfortunately the Pork was a popular meat, so the bits of crackling were in great demand 😩, none left!We had a fantastic time, a smashing dining experience, great service from all the staff, and will be booking again in May, for my fathers 82nd Birthday.P.S. - I will also add, that The Golden Lion is also a great little stopover whilst out cycling. The carrot cake and coffee is amazing.

Slow service although not busy. One waitress spent limited time out front and spent most of thst time chatting to the one otherctable occupied. Obviously knew them but was supposed to be working.Very limited menu. No carvery. Seated in small room at back which is not welcoming. There was plenty of room in main area. Overall very disappointing and not to previous standard of previous years

Poor signage to entrance. Very cold table near door- requested easy disabled access for wheelchair user. Staff friendly enough but zero atmosphere and food was cold and uninspiring. Needs updating and some heating!!! Overall disappointing venue for birthday celebration despite complimentary dessert wine for the birthday girl. Poor effort.

A lovely friendly, local cosy pub, which if we could walk to more easily we would spend a lot more time at. The food has always been good and certainly more recently has taken on that extra fab factor in taste and presentation. Would like to see more interesting plant based dishes but that's the same with any menu outside of a large city.

Stayed for 3 nights. No breakfast, only a pot of Aldi porridge, Aldi juice box and Aldi cereal bar. Exactly the same flavours on all three days. Used Covid as an excuse not to provide breakfast service and still got charged for it.Lights didn't work in the room. Tv didn't work. Lights in the corridor didn't work. Didn't bother to make our bed when they cleaned the room and the towels were just thrown into the bathroom. No space in the bathroom to even put a hairbrush.Walls so thin we could hear the conversation of the family next door, this even included hearing the toilet paper roll!!We booked a romantic retreat with a four poster bed and they put a family with kids next to us and they seemed to all be in the bath all night screaming.Car park full of people sat in their cars drinking cans of alcohol.Key cards worked once and we had to have them redone every time we went back to our room.Toilet door didn't close either.

Lovely pub....beers are full of body and flavour well worth the extra. Service with a friendly smile. We had light lunch with chunky chips really nice. Second pint was not as good when it arrived so we mentioned it to our waitress, the issue was sorted there and then. Will always go back here especially when the sun shines.
