The Old Lion in Rugby

Went to the old lion today for a Sunday roast lunch. Service was so slow it took 15 minutes to order our drinks. It then took 50 minutes for the starters to come out & another half an hour for the roast. What should have taken around an hour took over 2. The food was tasty but not warm enough & felt like it had been sat around waiting for service. Which isn’t a surprise at how slow the staff were. Some only manage to carry one empty plate at a time. Very disappointed with my visit & they couldn’t even get the bill right. Such a hame as I had high hopes!

Exceptionally good Sunday dinner with some of the best tasting meat I have had. Such a pleasant experience and I will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

- Food took hours to arrive. When it did, contained questionable hairs. Slow cooked lamb was difficult to cut. Tried to bill us for drinks that never arrived. +Staff seemed friendly. Nice looking place.

Sunday lunch was masterpiece, three types of meat - on a plate!Unfortunately there was no Lion present on my day of visit, however the roars heard from the entire family tree sat across from me made up for this.The deco was pedantic.

Couldn’t fault a thing … food and service absolutely fantastic . 4th time coming here and have got to say every time has been wonderful. Wish we lived closer as would visit more often .

Happy memories from past visits. Service ok but could have been more attentive like asking if we wanted more to drink. Food OK but we were served items not quite as per the menu (was sorted to be fair). Sadly won't be rushing back.

Fabulous meal, lovely attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. There was a large party in at 7 pm and the waiter made a point of taking our order before them which we appreciated. First visit but we will be back.

Lovely little county pub. We had a lovely meal there. I had the home made scotch eggs to start and they were amazing ! I also had the a couple of points of the pubs own brewed beer "old lion ale" I would highly recommend this. I will most definitely be returned here.

Just got home after an amazing Wednesday night meal! Just busy enough that it had a nice atmosphere and also quiet enough that everything was quick and perfect. 3 courses and wine and soft drinks for 2 came to £80 including a tip. Will be going back as soon as possible!
