Came on a Friday afternoon. Place was virtually empty, told to sit wherever we wanted, it was table service. Found a table, had to brush off the seats before we sat down!Waitress took ages to come and take our food and drink order, but pies and drinks arrived pretty quickly after that. The pies were tasty, chips were nice.We finished and decided we would have a dessert. Waited and waited for someone to come and clear away dirty plates and take dessert order. No one came. In the end I went to the bar to order, otherwise I think we’d still be sitting there.Waiting again! Eventually when desserts arrived we commented on the long wait, was told they didn’t have one of the desserts (chocolate sponge) so it was made fresh. The sponge was burnt and rock hard, not light and fluffy like the menu described. To top it off we found a hair in in.We quickly paid and left, never to return again! If you offer table service then offer it! We would have been more than happy to order at the bar if we were told that’s what you do but no we sat there waiting for this imaginary table service while the staff just stood around with their backs to us.If you’ve not got an item on the menu tell us or if it’s going to be a long wait for something then tell us, we could have made the decision to pick something else. All in all not a good time was had

Went here with a larger group of friends for a late lunch. The food was mostly hot and nice 2 of us did the challenge pie (1 fail, 1 finished) but didn't want to give out the certificates for some reason, asked twice and the girl just walked off.I Was surprised by the amount of steak in the pies, really full. Lots of places chuck veg in instead. The carvery looked pretty nice too, though we all stuck to pies.

Heard a lot about this place and my friend was keen to go so we visited and both had the Posh n Becks pie. Really nice with excellent, chip shop quality chips. The interior decor needs work but that's part of the charm. A real no thrills location but the food is fantastic.Highly recommended if you're visiting the area and very reasonably priced.

Brilliant pies filled with meat or your vegetarian choice.Very tasty too the pies are too. They come with chips which are so very good. There are good choices of Ales and lagers and other drinks too hard and soft. The ales are Lump Hammer Golden, Bitter and Ruby Mild. As well as Sledge Hammer. The staff are excellent and friendly too.You have starters and desserts as well as sides available. There are also alternatives to pies for your main courses like burgers as well as fish and chips too. This place is well worth a visit I will be returning for sure.

Absolutely brilliant! I had the most delicious Steak and Kidney Pudding I have ever had and both the Sledgehammer and Ruby Mild beer and ale are delicious too! Lovely staff and a very quirky and cool place! I loved it - thank you very much!!!

Was very busy but the staff were quick and helpful. Pies were tasty and we'll filled and can't go wrong with the battered chips! I had the chicken burger which was tasty and had a very nice sauce! Also washed down with a very delightful rhubarb cider

Given the pandemic the place was absolutely filthy, there was more food on the floor, chairs and tables than in the kitchen. You'd think one of the waitresses would go around with a flannel, possibly broom occasionally. However, I can understand why they were too busy, chatting amongst themselves and singing along to the cheesy 90s background pop.My husband is local to the area and has waited 20 years to visit, he was hoping to share some of the exquisite meat from his pie with our 6 month old, however as he couldn't find anything but gravy this was unfortunately not possible. In desperate need of a good clean, although the beer was good

Great value for money, generous portions. Staff are friendly. I have visited here twice and I absolutely love it. I have tried the Posh n Backs pie and the minted lamb, both were phenomenal. Love the traditional decor and the staff are very attentive.
