Dearnford Lake Cafe in Shropshire

Nice little place to visit. Child/buggy and dog friendly.Its not a huge place, probably takes 20mins to walk round the lake. However, if you fancy a swim, paddling boarding, kayak etc that's all available or you can take your own.For an adult it's £2 entry and I think 75p for a child.Parking is free.Lovely cafe on site that's dog friendly and a little farm shop with lots of treats

Lovely site. Gorgeous walk around the lake. Restaurant lovely with a good menu.Lots of choice. Not cheap but quality good.Friendly service and lots of tables inside and out. Farm shop has lots of edible treats, meals, fresh produce and lovely gifts.

We went to go and see father Christmas on Santa island just before Christmas. Wow, what an experience it was! Truely magical, completely different to anything we had done before and a lot more there than we expected.We had booked on line so check in in couldn't be easier, just a quick search of our name and we were in. Everything was very ordered, with time slots for the trip over the lake, so after grabbing our life vests and watching the safety briefing, we were helped into the boats and taken over to the island. We were there just as it was dropping dark, so got to see the magic appear through the dark. As we approached the island, you could see numerous structures and elves and other guests, as well as the resident goose, Nicky.As we landed we were met by an elf, who helped us on and then helped us make toasted marshmallows and played some games and told some jokes. We then went into our first tipi for Christmas story telling, sat on skin rugs, which was fun with audience participation. Following this we made reindeerfood, played jenga and then searched for our wishing cube which we used to make a wish as we crossed the bridge to Santa's tipi.The elves were all fantastic, with one cheeky naughty elf darting about and making mischief. Santa was super, Taking time to talk to us, find out what the kids had asked for and then sent us away with a signed copy of the chritmas story as well as a gift. There was also an elf on hand for the full family photo. We could then take photos on Santa's sleigh before the boat ride back. All in all it was just over an hour. We then popped into the alderford kitchen for a simple dinner in their lovely kitchen restaurant.A magical experience for the kids and excellent value as far as the parents were concerned. Thank you for putting on this event at a time when we all need a bit of magic.

First visit today ( 27/11/2021)The weather wasn't the best, it was freezing, but its winter, and wrap up you'll be fine.The car park was more than adequate even though the area was very busy.Good organisation getting in, queue times not awful, but sign the waiver in advance to speed up admission even more. Staff were very helpful and explained things well. The santa visit was well organised and even though there were extra people admitted ( due to rescheduled visitors/ weather complications) the wait times were acceptable even for young children. The 'elves' kept everyone entertained and were lots of fun.The boat rides across the lake were fab. The captain was very chatty and friendly.After the visit to santa we walked around the Christmas Market ( only on for two weekends during the festive period, but we'll worth a look around).There were lots of handmade items, crafts, foods and drinks.Various mobile catering vans eg, gin bar, crepes, sweet van were onside and reasonably priced. There was also live music from a duo that were good, we were just a bit too cold to stay and listen.The onside kitchen/ restaurant looked good but we didn't try.Fully recommended.

What a lovely find, the water looks a bit green but you soon forget about it when the fun kicks in. I honestly can’t wait to get back to this place but with some more friends. I hired a paddle board whilst my friends had their own and only had to pay a pool fee to get in for the day. Staff was very friendly and safety conscious. You are aloud to bring your own inflatables at no extra cost and there is food and drink there on site.

Such a lovely place to go with a lovely family atmosphere. There are as little or as many activities to take part in as you like. It can get very busy at weekends and school holiday times so booking and early arrival is definitely recommend.

The obstacle course was brilliant, for kids and adults. Clean, organised wetsuit rental and changing facilities. Park / playground seemed a bit underwhelming, but plenty of open area to kick a ball about. Nice food. Dog friendly. Shuts quite early.

Lovely safe environment to swim/kayak or paddle board. Lovely calm water islands to paddle around. Clean water. Plenty of loos and they were clean. Advance check in recommended due to signing the waiver. Plenty or food and drink stalls on site or make a day or it and take a picnic. Lifeguards on site and a play are/ water wipe out for kids. Staff are all friendly.

What a great family day out! Highly recommended. 11 of us went for my grandsons birthday and had a fab time. The weather was beautiful too.

A beautiful place on a sunny day, we had a lovely walk round the lake, sampled the food which was very nice and a real treasure for a chill out. The lake is excellent for swimming and sunbathing, which many people were happily partaking, they do events throughout the summer, including triathlon and I did see a water obstacle course although it was not in use. We booked in advance and completed the waiver required for us all, the entry fee is very small and includes the car parking. We will be back it's a real highlight.
