Food was 'diabolical',they should not be 'allowed' to serve food in that establishment,it was horrid.I had the 'local butcher's pie,½ a pie that had 3 or 4 bits of meat in it,the rest was 'brown jelly',chips were cooked in age old fat,I give it a one star for the veg.My wife had the ½ chicken with mash,the chicken was so overcooked,fried in the same age old chip fat,it was 'gross'.40p short of £30,including to glasses of cider,we both left ¾ of our meal,the waitress said are you 'full'.No,had enough of the food.Give this one a 'Wide Berth' folks its a bad un!

Bad smash on the A49, traffic diverted through Astley village, impossible to get home (in Astley) with the car, dropped into the Dog in Lane to ask if I could leave the car and walk home, they were most gracious, so left the car there after drinking a VERY nice San Miguel on tap.

Just a short drive from Shrewsbury you will find a great little country pub serving great food .As soon as you step through the door into the bar/restaurant area the service is excellent.The dining tables are well spread with a lovely wood burner inviting you into the room.You don't have to wait too long before your food arrives and I can tell you there's a lot of it,make sure your hungary.If you can fit in a desert then it's well worth it, especially the crumble and custard.We have decided to return to try the Xmas menu but I'm sure it's going to be good.
