Fantastic food. Great place to meet up with old friends. We all had various dishes from the menu with no complaints at all. Great flavours! Can recommend.

Excellent staff. Great room, spotless, fab shower , well decorated and furnished . Good free car park ,nice seating, lovely bar area. Outdoor dining area. Spacious dining room. A nice stay , made better by the staff who were so friendly and helpful..hard working and efficient too. The Bear is a quaint, great building with a lot of history set in a picturesque Tudor village. There is a car charging point adjacent to the spacious car park .

Second time staying here. We just had to come back. The rooms are spotless and the shower is incredible. Great service, the staff are lovely and the food was beautiful. The whole place has been decorated to a very high standard and is very classy. Excellent. Oh, and a free to use car charger!

Stayed for two nights and found the staff/service wonderful.we had a dog with us which, sometimes, can be a little difficult but we were made to feel very welcome/not a bother at all. The atmosphere was very friendly and made us want to stay longer!Food was also excellent

A tremendous countryside pub, and my local taproom.Whether I've been out for a hike, and just fancy popping in for a pint and a few bar nibbles, or whether I'm looking for an evening away from the house enjoying fine dining, The Bear caters for both with ease.I've brought family members visiting the village for stunning meals here, and likewise can be found in the bar more often than not in the evening! The care and respect for the diners and pub-goers here is above all, and that care extends into the food offered also, well deserving of the AA Rosettes awarded.Constantly in anticipation of my next visit.

Amazing renovations have been carried out on this inn that’s full of history and is at the heart of the little village of Hodnet. We had a great stay here, lovely rooms, warm and cosy with great shower and comfortable bed.The bar/restaurant area is beautiful, warm and welcoming and so are the staff! The food, where do I begin…delicious!! The chef really knows his ingredients and how to pair them with different flavours. We really enjoyed our meals and couldn’t fault them at all. Probably some of the best food we’ve had and plenty of it at that. We were so full we couldn’t fit dessert in and we normally eat big!Great but small selection of local beers on tap and plenty of wines on the wine list.Lots to do locally as well, walks (some guides were available from the local footpath group) and the wonderful Hodnet hall gardens, Wollerton old hall gardens and Hawkstone follies all close by.Would recommend staying here for a night or two if passing or looking at a base in this part of Shropshire.Close to major roads and plenty of parking.Would stay again, really couldn’t fault our visit at all.

We were just passing through really nice looking place . It was a Saturday lunch ..... could have had a bite to eat... but the menu available was for a different palette than mine . Shame lovely outside space great art work inside . Oh and watch the weird step by the bar it jolted my knee and screwed me for the rest of the weekend. Hopefully it will be clearly marked next time .

We came last night for dinner with friends. We arrive at approx 6.20 to be told by the surly man on reception -" you are late! Your booking was for 6pm". He led us to the table and said " you'd better order quickly". He then returned a few minutes later saying - it's your fault you booked on line for 6pm". Hardly the best customer service and left us feeling chastised. Hardly what you go out for dinner with friends for.The food was good though the portions very small. Vegetables virtually non existent. Why cant a dish of steamed vegetable be included. The prices are very high at approx £40 per person without any alcohol. Profits would not be much compromised. If you have a big appetite maybe this is not the place for you.The serving staff were very pleasant and helpful. After a reported £2.5 million refurb we were expecting more. The tables and chairs were more caff than fine dining. Formica tables and small very uncomfortable chairs. The seat of which finished mid thigh and caused leg cramps which continued all evening and through the night. The wood paneĺling was very roughly finished in places though the carpet on the stairs was stunning. We had been eagerly anticipating our visit which was spoilt by the surly " Maitre D" if that was his title. A friendly smiling greeting would have been much more appropriate. Whatever happened to Customer Service?I think it highly unlikely will visit again.

Stayed here for one night and I can't recommend it highly enough, literally our stay could not have been improved. The bedrooms are beautiful, the food and wine amazing and every single member of staff we interacted with was truly delightful. The setting itself is gorgeous and the attention to detail was perfect. We cannot wait to go back and will be booking our next stay right away.

nice venue & ambience. However meals are small, with need to order extra vegetables, resulting in a very pricey dinner, in excess of £50 per head without wine. Have cancelled our forthcoming booking.
