Stayed here for one night and I can't recommend it highly enough, literally our stay could not have been improved. The bedrooms are beautiful, the food and wine amazing and every single member of staff we interacted with was truly delightful. The setting itself is gorgeous and the attention to detail was perfect. We cannot wait to go back and will be booking our next stay right away.

A tremendous countryside pub, and my local taproom.Whether I've been out for a hike, and just fancy popping in for a pint and a few bar nibbles, or whether I'm looking for an evening away from the house enjoying fine dining, The Bear caters for both with ease.I've brought family members visiting the village for stunning meals here, and likewise can be found in the bar more often than not in the evening! The care and respect for the diners and pub-goers here is above all, and that care extends into the food offered also, well deserving of the AA Rosettes awarded.Constantly in anticipation of my next visit.

nice venue & ambience. However meals are small, with need to order extra vegetables, resulting in a very pricey dinner, in excess of £50 per head without wine. Have cancelled our forthcoming booking.

First visit, impressed. Staff accommodating, we'd turned up 30 mins early but were given our booked table for two even though they were busy; it was diplomatically suggested that we might like to choose asap thus 'beating' a larger booking that was still umming and arring, good skills. The food was very good and is a creative mixture of the artistic and the bigger 'n' better dinners( photos are of the starters: Plaice samphire and Goats' cheese with beetroot). Good standard of ingredients, prep, cooking and presentation. The Italian Pinot Grigio Rosé, the French Merlot and Champagne by the glass were again of a high standard. Hodnet - who knew?

Nice atmosphere, great staff. Menu looks a bit faffed about. I prefer simple good, well cooked (enjoyed what we had)

We went to The Bear for New Year's Eve and took our Springer spaniel with us! They were brilliant and so dog friendly. We didn't think we'd be able to go out NYE with having a dog but we had a fabulous night and he enjoyed all the attention & fuss. We had an amazing 5 course tasting menu and Murphy sat by us and ate his chew. We stayed overnight in one of their lovely dog friendly rooms and all found it very comfortable - so much so we all had a lie-in! Then breakfast the next morning was yummy with a pre-breakfast of yoghurt with granola, Shrewsbury biscuits and a cheese scone followed by a cooked breakfast and as much juice and tea/coffee as you want.Cannot recommend The Bear enough, particularly if you have a four legged friend you like to take with you.

Little family meal for 6 last night. Absolutely fabulous. Two of our group were late due to major road closure enroute, but service was quick and professional. Even when the waiter accidentally walk into the door jam! (🤣 he styled it out!)Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Decor was stylish. Looking forward to returning soon.

Three of us dined there today.Table service was fast. Two had Fish and Chips and I had Crispy Pork Belly. It was absolutely fantasticFor afters I had a good selection of cheese and biscuits.Others had sticky toffee pudding and ice-cream.It was spotlessly clean and tidy. Mother in law worked here 65 year's ago and said how impressed she was with the new renovations. The outside eating area is really good.

We stayed here overnight as we were going to a wedding in nearby Hawkstone Hall (6min drive away) and were absolutely delighted with the place! The rooms are lovely, stunning bathroom and INCREDIBLY comfortable beds. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The breakfast was up there with one of the best I've had anywhere. I would highly recommend staying here!
