Such a shame. After coming here with a party of 13 and after most of us ordering a considerable amount of drinks, one of our party asked for a water and a packet of crisps. The barperson then said " you can't just sit there with a packet of crisps for ten minutes" after discussing that this was our right they then told us "well you can just leave"Can't believe we have been treated like this. We were enjoying the atmosphere and were planning on staying much longer before this incident. We were judged the minute we walked through the door. A great shame for a character full place.

Appalling service. I visited this pub with a few of my friends recently. The party was ordering multiple alcoholic drinks and hoping to purchase some snacks. My friend ordered a packet of crisps and a tap water, the staff member was rude and refused to serve my friend her water despite being part of a party which was spending lots of money. The blonde woman, said “we do not serve tap water” … is this not a human right? Such a shame and disappointment for Shrewsbury, a town which prides itself as a place thriving on independent restaurants shops and pubs, the personal touch and excellent customer service was truly lost. More over how was the bar tender to know our friend was not diabetic, pregnant or unwell? Try the crown down the road a brilliant owner.

A staff member was incredibly rude when a member of group of 13 people ordered a bag of crisps and tap water. They were told to leave and that they don't serve tap water without a meal. The rest of the group ordered an alcoholic drink and the member was left feeling incredibly embarrassed for asking for a tap water. Don't bother visiting, there are so many lovely places in Shrewsbury where you don't need to be belittled and shamed for asking for a tap water whilst the rest of you group orders a drink.

Go here of you want to be treated like a pile of rubbish, they didn’t provide tap water for a friend as they ‘weren’t spending money’ despite buy crisps also the whole rest of the group were paying a lot of money for other drinks (13 people). My two words to describe this place are immoral and unreasonable.

I have to be honest it is not a place we would revisit. Upon arrival the place looked amazing entered to no staff acknowledging us. We were left to find our own table. It took 20minutes for our first order of drink and 50minutes for food and no one else was eating. Baringin mind there was only a few people in for a pint. The staffing were terrible no idea what they were doing table service was saved by Charlie. The tikka was OK and the bread but rice no flavour, my partners burger was almost black with the smallest hard bun in the world. I'm sorry but its a no from us 😔

Regularly have meals at The Dun Cow, good quality well priced food, enjoy the odd Friday night band too. A gem of a pub that's unspoilt.

We visited this pub 7 years ago, and I had the best fillet steak of my life that day. We returned this evening, and whilst maybe not the same lofty standard as that day - it's still a mighty fine steak! The quality of the meat is extraordinary considering the price charged.

A nice cosy pub on a main road in Abbey Forgate. It is a good place to sit outside and relax with a drink. Have never eaten here but the meals look very appetising and well presented.
