Travelled 40 miles to the Keys to meet up with friends. We picked the Keys based on reviews on Google.I admire a manager who defends his staff but the food quality was well below par. Perhaps I just drew the short straw but my food was below average. I had what seemed like a safe choice with Fish, Chips and mushy peas. The batter on the fish I found to be hard and crunchy, akin to pork crackling, the fish dry and fibrous, clearly overcooked. I wasn't going to review this venue as it was just cheap Pub Grub and I didnt expect haute cuisine but expected the food to be edible. At the end of the meal the waitress came to clear the plates and asked if the food had been ok. I pointed to a number of chips that were made or fried from rotten potatoes,(black throughout). I told the waitress irmly I wasnt happy and those sort of chips are unacceptable. Shortly after the Manager gave me a firm reprimand for swearing at the waitress. Other Diners confirmed to him that I did not swear! He then tried to explain that the chips were hand cut and home made and I should have raised the matter at the start of the meal and the would have replaced the entire dish. In other words, it was my fault rotten potatoes ended up on my plate because I didnt send it back at the beginning. The point is, these chips should have been picked out during plating up. Having spent 20 odd years as a chef in prestigious hotels this sort of "food" should never have crossed the Pass!As I said, I wasn't going to leave a review because it was just a boozer and hardly haute cuisine but getting a reprimand for swearing based on the statement of a liar changed my mind. When I settled my bill, the chips had been taken off the bill.Something funny happened though, some piped music was playing rather loudly and unless it was specially requested, in the next room a funeral wake was being held to the music of Dirty Dancing.🤔

Lovely food, well presented and really good value for money!! Staff were really polite and friendly...would definitely recommend. Only downside is we don't live locally, otherwise this would become our go to pub :)

Wish I had found this place earlier in the holiday as it was very nice. Food was fantastic, had the garlic mushroom starter which was really nice, and the steak well cooked and tasty. Staff very friendly, could not fault the meal and rounded off our holiday perfectly.
