Great food, atmosphere, garden and generally an amazing place for an evening meal... However, some of the staff can be a little rude/slow. I've been a few times and most staff are amazing but there is one/two who are slow and come across as not very friendly.

Food was very nice but staff terrible!!!We were waiting just for drinks for more than 10min and for food more than 50min!!!Staff was chatting at the bar without any interest about costumes. More guidance from the management would be a great benefit to the running of the pub.:(

Enjoyed the meal and ambiance here. Been here before and liked the steak. This time went for the veggie option of halloumi burger. Was really pleased with how good it was

Lovely food, drinks and staff! Highly recommend the steak pie and the belly pork.

What can we say except absolutely amazing.I was taken out for Mothering Sunday with my family and upon arrival was made to feel so welcome by the friendly in house manager and his amazing team of staff. We never had to leave our table once and our starters and main course were to die for.We cannot wait to return and dine here again.Thank you for making my Mothering Sunday complete.

Went for Sunday lunch with family for a birthday , there was a bit of a wait for main course but think cause had large parties in . I opted for pork and other members had beef , one of our party only had one slice of beef compared to others , I told her to mention to server ,but she never .Mine was nice and tasty though personally I would have liked more vegetables as only had one carrot ,two potatoes and a piece of broccoli ...I got given cabbage and half a Yorkshire by my daughter so bit happier .Food sadly was not very hot , but still tasty and clean plates all around .Desserts were lovely, though a little pricey I thought at seven pound a slice of tart .Would go again though as staff friendly and a nice atmosphere and food was tasty , just need more

A pleasant stop for a quiet afternoon lunch. The Last Inn is clean, reasonably priced, and the food and service are good. Very friendly service and dog friendly, too. Recommended.

We had a lovely meal here tonight. Food was delicious and service great too. I had chicken with cheese & chorizo wrapped in ham with dauphinoise potatoes which was fab. Hubby had the curry, also nice & our son had the southern fried chicken fillets with fries. These were delicious, slightly spicy for kids with a sensitive pallet but he loved them. Would highly recommend. Cappuccino creme brulee was really nice.

Revisited The Last Inn for a meal on Saturday 26 September 2020 . The Last Inn has good virus protection measures in place with a one way system in via the front door and out via the side door for example. The tables are all well spaced out and staff are all wearing masks. The car park is on the opposite side of the Wellington Road which has a 40 mph speed limit and has cars rushing into and out of Newport. There does not appear to be any immediate easy access into the building if you are not happy with steps or in a wheelchair. We had 2 courses of food with a carrot and Coriander Soup as a starter (£5) with warm bread and butter. The soup was very spicy and my wife could not eat it and it meant my tongue and throat were tingling for the rest of the meal. My wife had a nice sirloin steak for her main course but had to send the chips back as they were burnt . Another set of chips was brought as a replacement. I had a pie of the day which was Steak and Ale with mash and various vegetables . (£14) The pie was overbaked and the pastry was difficult to cut. The mashed potatoes were very salty and two parsnips were again overcooked. The French beans were nice and it was a great shame that the meal was not as good !The quality of service was below what we were expecting. The waitress for our starter forgot things when delivering the soup - we had to ask for knives to spread the butter and napkins. When we were asked about the soup we did explain about our concerns but no apology or explanation was offered. No further staff contact was offered. to check about our main course even though The Last Inn was not particularly busy. Sadly we feel that although the décor of The Last Inn has improved since our last visit in 2019 the same cannot be said about the quality of the food or service. We cannot recommend The Last Inn based on our visit.

Visited as a family for a late lunch on a Sunday. We were seated in the conservatory area, which was modern with chunky wooden tables. Although quiet, there was a nice atmosphere and staff were pleasant. We chose 2 large mixed meat roast dinners and 1 pork loin. All were tasty with a good selection of veg, although would have been better if the food had been hotter.Nice selection of desserts to finish.
