Had a lovely three course meal here today. Excellent food and brilliant staff very attentive but not intrusive. Perfect would recommend.

Just popped in for a drink. Excellent beer. Great staff. Food looked good but we weren't intending to eat.

Stopped off on a Monday evening, which for Shrewsbury was a good result to find somewhere open, given that most places seem to close on MondaysThe staff were attentive, but it was fairly quiet so that was really to be expectedThe menu reads wonderfully, we spent a long while looking through and a lot of things stood out. We were only stopping for a light meal so opted for scotch egg, ham hock and pistachio nuggets and a cheeseboard. We had already earmarked some other things for a return visitUnfortunately the food itself didn't live up to the excitement of the menu. It wasn't bad in any way, but it was very lacklustreThe scotch egg was quite tasty, but the meat had been skimped on, so the ratio of egg to meat was off.The salad was a bit lazy, a couple of lettuce leaves and a spoon of carrot chutney really let it down. The chutney is great, you can pick it up from the farmers market in the square in Shrewsbury, but with a scotch egg? I'm not convinced. Really I'm expecting a home made ketchup, maybe some potato straws, something with a bit more effortThe ham hock nuggets were also quite tasty, not as exciting as I had hoped, the pistachio didn't really shine through. They came with a disproportionately large amount of blue cheese dip, which was cheesy, but it didn't have a strong blue cheese flavour. Somehow not quite rightThe cheeseboard comes in at £10 and was probably the most disappointing element. As you can see from the picture, there was a lot of ancillary things, chutney, grapes, malt loaf, jelly etc but not a lot of actual cheese! The balance was completely off, there should have been at least 50% more cheese and less other 'stuff'The menu mentioned fruit loaf, but this looked and tasted like a malt loaf. Like Doreen, I like a slice of Soreen, but not with cheese. That was just weird and felt like more plate filler to distract from the lack of cheeseOverall, it wasn't a bad experience, it was reasonably tasty but not special. The initial excitement we had at the menu now seems misplaced and our planned return has been forgotten about. Somehow they have made this independent restaurant, using local ingredients feel like a chain restaurant. A truly weird feat to pull offWith a bit more attention to detail this could be a great place, but right now you are basically paying a bit too much for 'nice enough' when you should be getting something a bit more special

Came here for drinks for the jubilee weekend and absolutely loved it! Their cocktail range were superb as well as the service, extremely attentive and you could tell these drinks were made with care. Overall the venue was lovely and clearly a popular place to visit. We will definitely come back when we are in the area! Sadly didn't get to try their food but perhaps we will on our next visit, worth it enough for the drinks which is very promising when it comes to their food!

Found this lovely restaurant on our visit to Shrewsbury yesterday. Definitely a dog friendly venue. We had the fish goujon buns with peas, lettuce and crisps plus an extra portion of triple cooked chips. Very friendly servers and a very good meal. Very knowledgeable server told us about the park close to the venue. Thanks in advance

Lovely pub in Shrewsbury. Rooms are great. Big bath and shower. Bed comfortable. Some strange sounding items on the menu but delicious. A real happening place. Ella ( waitress ) is lovely and very helpful

City centre, gourmet standard food, excellent bar (well stocked, well managed, and very tidy!) and great service. But BOOK to ensure you get a table. The Loopy Shrew is busy at the weekend and is generally fully booked all through the peak times in the summer.

Had a short stay recently. Lovely friendly staff. Good, lively atmosphere and delicious food. Excellent position for sightseeing around Shrewsbury. Don't stay here if you want peace and quiet . . . definitely stay here if you want a good time

·

Fantastic room in the sleepy shrew upstairs...had a wonderful meal and breakfast too.Lovely atmosphere in the lounge area.Only challenge was getting up at 8am to refill the parking meter in the market Square!

What a delightful place & very busy. We were on holiday looking for a dog friendly place & somewhere to eat. We were not disappointed. We had a sharing board and it was utterly delicious. Good customer service as well because the young waiter found us a taxi number as well as we were struggling with the 2 numbers we had. We'll done & we will be back on our next visit 👍
