The Old Gate Inn in Shropshire

This used to be our “ go to “ favourite pub for food hadn’t been since before lockdown so booked a table . Surprised by the very limited menu firstly. Food was awful steak was 70% fat and gristle fries were bland and undercooked grilled tomato was mush , won’t be returning !

Lovely food and beer, avoided the showers under the tent outside with the heater on! Only disappointment is the £4 for a pint of coke (more than my HPA) which isn't ideal for the designated drivers out there.

Not been here for yonks but it has and hasn't changed,very good outdoor area for eating and drinking which is under cover and still looks the same indoors,prices for food and drink very reasonable. Only went for a drink after walking the dog but will go back and try the food.

Despite the damp weather the service and welcome was warm. Lovely seating area under a marquee. The lunchtime menu was very egg/cheese orientated. Had nice cheese on toast with chips. Nice beer well kept (Hop Gun) . Would like to visit again to see the full menu

Very good outdoor seating, quick service. Quite stringent covid check before being allowed to enter the outdoor seating area. All the young staff looked happy with their jobs and were very pleasant.

A clean, neat & tidy traditional public house set in a comfortable rural location.The new business model employed has easily coped with the enormous social changes of the last two years. The spacious tented area has a nice homely feel to it and has it's own outside bar.The food menu I thought was a tad limited and priced as if it was a salubrious restaurant, however the quality on offer is there for all to see.Overall, a nice friendly establishment that is well worth a visit.

Staff unaware of food allergies and cross contamination. Inadequate information on what foods are gluten free or not. Was told I could have the beetroot tart taken out of the pastry, ended up walking out as didn’t fancy taking a chance. Please educate your staff on catering for different allergies, as assuming doesn’t quite cut it when it can have serious consequences.
