Had a few beers here on Thursday, and decided to book a table for fathers day. Was told no menus available for us to look at before deciding, I had to look online, but booked the table anyway. Online stated Father's day menu as a mixed Sunday lunch, beef, pork, pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese and trimmings at £14.50, a decent price I was happy to pay. When I arrived for my meal I was seated, my drink order was taken, and I was informed they had no pork, fine with me as I'm not a lover of pork. BUT when I showed her the downloaded menu on my phone, and said just beef would be fine, I was told quite abruptly that my meal would now have to be the beef roast from the standard menu at £12.50 plus extras. This would cost over £8 per person more for the same food as the pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese came separately at a high cost . When we questioned this, we were told we were rude and she stormed off and sent someone else to deal with us. He was at least polite but still refused to honour the father's day offer. Having still not received our drinks 10 minutes in, and disgusted with our treatment we up and left to find somewhere else to eat. We succeeded in our quest, obtained a fantastic meal and a round of drinks for less money. £30 for food instead of £45! The money was not the issue, I just don't like being conned or spoken down to. In all my years working in hospitality, I have never treated anyone, even the most difficult customer, with such disrespect. I wonder how many others had to fork out more than advertised?

We came to the poachers on our way to Shropshire. We arrived at half 1 and got a seated quickly, menus given and we chose our food. The waitresses were lovely but told us the antipasti platter was sold out. I then chose the chicken burger instead and that was also sold out. We were then told any chicken dish, steak pie and Lasagne were all sold out. I picked the cheese and leek pie and my partner the bacon and cheese burger. We waited 50 minutes for the food to receive a cold burger. A cheese pie that was curdled inside, chips that tasted as though they'd been reheated multiple times and were chewy. The vegetables were stone cold and raw. The gravy was already poured on top of the pie, which is not how I would have had it. On the side would have been much better. All in all, I have limited positive things to say about the poachers and would never return.

We had not prebooked but we didn't have to wait long. The food when it came was excellent and my steak was cooked exactly as I liked it . The staff were all very friendly and attentive. They were fully booked later so we took drinks outside and sat by the canal. Lovely atmosphere

Food prices expected a better meal. Fries were supposed to be seasoned. They were not cooked properly and cold when served. The chicken burger stated it was supposed to have tomato and iceberg lettuce with a sauce it didn’t have. The bap was also supposed to be toasted it wasn’t and fell to pieces trying to eat so wasn’t fresh. The chicken wasn’t greasy and touch to eat.

Mediocre perhaps the most boring Burger 🍔 l have ever tasted, l was warned they had run out of bacon, l think l would have been better off going to McDonald's or Burger King 👑 the Sticky Toffee pudding was consistent and the place is dog friendly that was worth an extra star 🌟My hotel opposite said the Pub is a bit Hit and Miss! So l should have known what l was in for, the staff were efficient but not friendly

We have visited before but only for drinks. We liked the look of the place and decided to bring the kids for a meal. The menu looked nice and we all chose what we wanted. The staff were very nice on arrival and before our meals were bought to us. However, on the menu the lamb shank that my partner chose were meant to come with vegetables (carrots and broccoli) and the steak was meant to have onion rings. The two kids meals were fine. Although we didn’t make a big deal of the issues we did ask why. We was told that the only vegetables on offer were peas due to a delivery problem and that there also also no onion rings. Unfortunately the meals were not hot either. We ate them as we had been out all day and skipped lunch. On payment we explained our problem and we’re offered a 20% discount. However on reviewing the receipt it was actually less than 5. We like the atmosphere and all bar one of the staff were excellent. It’s a shame.

We called in 5 times over the weekend. Hannah stood out by been a great server, full of advice and suggestions. Knowledgeable and excellent customer care. Nothing was too much trouble. The 2 other young staff stood out was Katie and Johnny l believe. Perfect staff. Credit too the pub. We had a dog so was extra nervous for us going with dog. They areas for dogs are perfect. This restaurant is on a canal so excellent for walks.Large car park and out door Area.Well done to the 3 staff who made our first visit a pleasant and pleasure. Thank you Hannah and team. Keep up the good work. Credit too the pub and chain.

Very good in fairness, clean and tidy. Girl at bar said we get onion rings with burgers but we got coleslaw which was not very nice. Burger and chips were nice no complaints. Would visit again but maybe onion rings would be a better option than coleslaw as it wasn't very edible

Stopped here on canal side and had a lovely meal. Food tasted good and was plenty of it. Staff were lovely and really helpful. Dog friendly place too. Childrens playground on site which my little boy enjoyed. Indoor and outdoor seating, but we sat inside as it was a chilly day. 5 stars all round.

Went for lunch on Sunday. Very long wait for drinks, even longer for the food. The meal itself was quite nice. Generous portions. Waitress was very friendly but wore no mask which I did think she should have done as she was very close when serving the meals.
