Great choice of food, home made and reasonable prices. Staff were lovely and not too attentive

Great food here. Although they were busy and only had one chef on, they managed to squeeze us in. Friendly staff.Place looks stunning inside and out.We visiting in the winter before a walk, but will be going again in the summer months to benefit from the lovely beer garden.Kids menu was quite generous.

Called in for a drink while staying at the Travelodge across the road, very friendly staff, lovely and clean very nice atmosphere, didnt have meals as they were going to be closing a little while after we have had meals here before and the food was very nice, would recommend here!

The best gluten free fish and chips we have ever had. Highly recommend.

Really lovely pub! Went here for a meal, steak and the prawns to start were perfect. Great decor and friendly staff. Food was really good! Worth a visit.

An absolutely fantastic place to eat. Locally sourced food, impeccably cooked and presented, with a wide range of superb quality dishes. For veggies and vegans, their plant based burger is a true gem. If you want the best without pretensions or rip off prices, you can't find any better than the Salwey Arms.

Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Pleasant enough bedroom. Noisy through the night but on a busy main road so to be expected. Food was average, service slow and not particularly welcoming. 2 members of staff seemed courteous enough, but the reception we received on arrival was dismissive, verging on rude, and little things like no sugar with coffee, no reply to my "good morning", no showing us to the breakfast table, no asking if we wanted another cuppa, no asking us how our night was etc etc. We arrived down for breakfast at 9.10a.m, and despite only 2 others eating breakfast, there was no explanation or apology until our food arrived 40 minutes later that there was a table of 6 eating in the other room, who had arrived unexpectedly for breakfast, for the lengthy wait. Then whilst still eating, we were asked if housekeeping could attend to our room which should have been vacated at 10a.m., the reason it hadn't been vacated is because we had waited 40 minutes for our simple order of breakfast for 2. I felt this was particularly Rude! We were also privy to a loud telephone conversation from a disgruntled customer whilst eating ... not exactly conducive to a relaxed breakfast. Would not recommend or return. Bad show.

We stayed here Sunday night arriving earlier than official check in time and were warmly greeted and shown to our clean and well appointed room. After an great dinner and good night's sleep we enjoyed a superb breakfast.

Best ploughman's ever. I never thought a ploughman's could be so good, great selection of pickles, ham and cheese with a slice of sausage roll. Well worth the very reasonable price.

Visited this pub twice recently for dinner and breakfast! Both times the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Both the dinner and breakfast menus were a good size with plenty on offer and I cant wait to return. The pub is spacious and the evening service was fast and attentive. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the breakfast service hence the lost star. I feel bad for doing it because the lady who was working was very nice. The problem is that she appeared to be the only server working. That left her doing all front of house work including answering the phone, serving food, getting the bill etc. It is simply too much for one person and that led to slow service during breakfast. There is ample parking to the front of the pub with some outdoor seating to the side. The outdoor seating is situated in an enclosed area which also features a large wooden play area which includes a slide! Perfect for those times when the children have finished and just need to blow some energy off.I would highly recommend booking ahead if you can.
