A lovely meal tonight to celebrate our son's birthday. This is a beautiful 16th century public house in Ludlow, about a 10 minute meander from Ludlow Town Square. The food was excellent and the staff really attentive. The food is all locally sourced and the landlord told us where it comes from. Pretty, old china was used to serve the food on and each course was presented attractively. Will definitely return. Highly recommended

We had dinner here with friends who were staying over. A very charming place with pleasant staff. The food was superb.

Checked this place out on recommendation of our Air BnB host, walked in for a drink and we were turned away after being told that they were fully booked tonight despite there only being two tables of people sat inside. Got the feeling it’s a local pub for local people as others have mentioned!

Absolutely outstanding! I really don’t understand how anyone can be negative about this lovely pub. We went for my birthday tonight. A warm welcome as we arrived, and honestly, I’ve never tasted a better pint of HPA. Service was very good, nothing was too much trouble. I had venison which was cooked to perfection. Sandra had cod loin which was also superb. A special experience for a special occasion. We WILL be back soon! Thank you, Unicorn!

I'm sorry I cannot give any more of a rating as I am still in disbelief. My wife and I have just visited the pub at 17:50 on 11 October 2021 in the hope of a nice quiet drink.Upon entering the pub the male owner/DPS was sat at a table by the bar doing paperwork and there was one other female bar staff, aside from that the place was empty. The manager asked " Can I help you sir?" To which I questioned " Are you open as we'd like a drink?" Quickly came the reply sorry we only serve drink with food!I have to say I'm glad in the current climate that 1) you can afford to turn custom away.2) due to the quite brash attitude of said manager I will not be returning. Little did this bloke know that we were checking out venues to have quite an important family meal next month. You have lost more that just todays custom. I think you need to review your business acumen somewhat!

We had a beautiful evening out at the Unicorn for my twin sisters-in-laws' 50th birthday. We declined the delicious sounding starters in lieu of desserts. The main meals, however, were the stars of the show. We collectively had: venison, belly pork, cod loin, lamb shank, duck, chicken and spinach ravioli - which were all absolutelty stunning. The staff couldn't do enough for us and there was a welcome to be had that was as warm as the gorgeous log fire near the bar. When you go out for a special occasion you want everything to be perfect. It was. We'll be back.

Really disappointed by our visit to this quaint little place in Ludlow. We were visiting and it had good reviews so we booked in advance.Unfortunately our visit did not live up to expectations.Bar was virtually dry, only one cider and one beer available. The menu was really interesting and had some good choices available. We opted for fillet steak and the venison (shot by the manager). There was a long wait for food (not advised) and the fillet arrived overcooked, bordering on well done. This was very quickly replaced. So quickly I'm sure I was given someone else's. The accompanying sauce was an artistic scroll on the plate. For the prices being charged it was really not up to par.To be fair the venison was a good choice. We were never offered a drink top up and couldn't catch the eye of someone. We weren't the only ones left disappointed... A family sitting by us with young children had to query and complain about wait. The service was poor and the attitude seemed to be OK, sorry, but we're not prepared to do anything to make your experience right.I get its a family run venture and times can't have been easy recently. But really, look after your visitors! It was noticeable that a local couple got a much more prompt service and what looked like more favourable portions.Due to our experience we didn't stay for desert, which we had intended to do.If you're not local, I'd consider looking elsewhere.Shame, as the place had potential.

Delicious food in an ancient B&W timbered building. A warm, cosy, intimate atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Service was fast, we just had main courses. Three had the fillet steak, mouth-wateringly tender with delicious sauce- quite the best steak for many a year. Our fourth member had the chicken and gnocchi, equally delicious. Food presentation excellent, vegetables perfectly cooked, just the right amount on the plate; an absolute credit to the chef. House Malbec was excellent. Starters and desserts looked tempting for next time. Highly recommended, worth booking well ahead
