Ye Olde Boote Inn in Shropshire

Excellent meal, atmosphere and staff service. Highly recommended.

Oh dear. Empty on steak night. Partner's steak was very chewy ( gave up on one bit) youngsters serving at the bar stood around looking bored and on their phones. Atmosphere wasn't what it used to be. Hope this is a glitch.

We wanted a single night stay with food for a simple getaway after Covid. We booked a few days before only to find the landlord had just taken over the pub (that day!). Arrived at 1 ish to find the place busy doing Sunday lunches. We only wanted a snack as we were eating there later. Mark, the landlord, asked the chef and we had a roast beef sandwich with side salad and chips, beautiful just what we needed. We sampled the bar and retired to the room for a bit. The room (5) was lovely, facing the castle and its moat, spotlessly clean with plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. We returned to the restaurant for our evening meal, I saw the Sunday lunches being served, they looked amazing but far more than I could manage, I went for fish chips and mushy peas, wife had the scampi. We both enjoyed our food and finished of with apple pie and custard, cheese and biscuits. After a very pleasant evening we had a good nights sleep in a comfy bed, followed by a full English breakfast (love the sausages). The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble, Mark the landlord made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived, we would recommend ye old boots inn to anyone who likes good value, good service and great hospitality. We will be going back, hope to see you there x

This place is a hidden little gem. Under new management. We were made to feel so welcome by Mark and his staff right from the beginning. Food was delicious and piping hot. The rooms were lovely with a view of the castle, beds were really comfortable. We had a lovely stay here really highly recommended. Mark and his staff have worked their socks off after only taking over the pub less than a week ago. Would highly recommend you pay a visit, thank you for a lovely stay.

Great homecooked pub grub, right by the castle. Inside is really cosy and clean, and the staff are super.

Had a Roast Beef lunch on Sunday. The food took awhile to arrive but the Pub seemed light on staff so understandable. The food was average and nothing to write home about. Roast Beef was a bit chewy, the carrot mash was tasty. Roasties were ok as was the Yorkshire pudding. Only thing I would mark down was the Undercooked Broccoli. We all left the Broccoli as you couldn't bite it, it was solid.To summarise , The Pub was dark with poor lighting(on a side note if you suffer from OCD do not look at the little light shades all over as most of them were askew which I found a bit annoying)The Pub had no atmosphere to speak of. The food was edible excepting the Broccoli. The food was not amazing or the best and I have no intentions to return. The Pub was ok with plenty of parking space.

The hotel is everything you would expect from an historic English country Inn. It has great character in a delightful rural setting overlooking the castle. A warm, welcoming and comfortable stay. Great food and drink, Excellent value, Highly Recommended!

Reasonably comfortable room, which was basic, but clean upon arrival. Meal was adequate pub grub and reasonably priced. Staff were pleasant. You will hear any noise from the bar and lounge areas from your room, but not too loud and went quiet after 11 pm, so this didn't bother us. Another guest must've been smoking in their room, which is forbidden, but we could smell the smoke. Of course, there's little the staff can do when guests are so inconsiderate, but it spoilt our stay. I'd say the room rates are a little overpriced for what you get. The location is convenient for the A5 and is a nice spot though.

Very disappointedI had a prawn cocktail starter tonight which was completely tasteless the prawns were obviously frozen and cheap, very disappointingThe main I had chicken which was pink and a little bloody in the middle so had to leave that due to fear of salmonella poisoningThe dessert I had chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream, the fudge cake was very nice but the vanilla ice cream was completely tasteless and obviously very cheap. I did complain about each of my poor meals,when we paid I asked if my complaints had been relayed to the management as I hadn’t heard of anyone and I was told no they hadn’t told the manager as they were eating at the time 😳🤷🏻‍♂️Well I’m sorry but that’s not acceptable and for that reason we probably won’t be eating there again.VERY disappointed with everything at the ye olde boote tonight

An enjoyable two day stay, while we visited the area looking for canal boats for next year. Lovely comfy bed, slept well both nights. We had an evening meal on the first night and can highly recommend the duck. Breakfast on both mornings was lovely. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Good value for money, would definitely stay again!
