Staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. Food the best, the whole dining area has a nice ambience to it. Some other diners leave a bit to be desired but that happens anywhere. Chef does an amazing job.

Really messed around by this place avoid, avoid, avoid if you are thinking of booking your wedding here. Unprofessional and disorganised management - definitely wont be bothering with this place.Swapped a few emails and had a visit, a barman showed us the facilities, and we stayed for dinner and it all looked ok for the money charged. Rang up and asked for an appointment to see that wedding manager, had to ring a few times eventually were told only one possible date over then next few months. Not great but the manager insisted no other date or time would do, we both arranged AL from work and made it happen.However, what a mistake. Walked in and the manger didn’t know us…..had completely forgotten he asked us to come in. We repeated our requests that we had already submitted and was told that Ye Olde Punchbowl hadn’t offered that services for 6 months. Why on earth did they insist we came and wasted our AL?How rude!!! Why didn’t they just tell us this over the phone or by email. Needless to say we cancelled our meal with them for that night and will never return!

Fabulous stay. Only stayed 2 nights but am already looking to book again. The staff are some of the friendliest we have met and the food was of a standard which would outshine any 5 star restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back x

We haven't been for a few years what with covid etc but what a great meal. Still the best carvery around!! Good to see a few of the old staff too.

Good quality carvery, lovely beef with tasty gravy. Plus the meal was hot.

Great setting, lovely views from the garden and terrace. Friendly attentive staff and one of the best lunchtime carveries around. Always busy so best to book in advance.

A chance discovery of a lovely place to break a long journey: "sundowners" in the pretty garden with great views, delicious dinner and a comfortable bed for the night followed by a substantial, tasty and beautifully presented full English breakfast. Thank you to the welcoming and friendly staff we met there.

Breakfast was good and generous portion. Friendly staff.The deluxe king room was much smaller than expected. I would go for the bigger rooms if they are available. Lighting and cleanliness could be better (found bits around the carpet). The bedroom was right by a road so may not be suitable for light sleepers. Good value though

The building and decor are beautiful. I personally thought the food was only alright, but my family enjoyed it, and the service on our first visit was fabulous, despite how busy the restaurant was. Also, the way the restaurant has dealt with covid precautions was innovative - my husband especially loved tables being called up individually for the carvery, and hopes that's a policy that is here to stay.Unfortunately, on our second visit, the service was bad enough to put us off visiting again. You only have your table for a certain amount of time to make room for the next guests, which I understand. But despite the restaurant being less busy than our first visit and despite our table being right next to the bar and where the staff stood when looking for tables to assist, we were overlooked and kept waiting for a good 20-25 minutes after we'd finished eating. Eventually, they took our plates and brought a dessert menu, but then took a further 20 minutes to come back and take our dessert order.The first time we visited, our server arranged a child's version of the sundae for our youngest, with 2 scoops of ice cream, a wafer fan - it looked like a proper sundae, but a bit smaller. When we asked for that on the second visit, our server brought a single scoop of ice cream in an old ramekin - queue heartbroken four year old.Now, I understand maybe the child's sundae isn't on the menu, but the lack of consistency led to a fair bit of confusion. Either put smaller portioned puddings on the menu for those with smaller stomachs, or don't offer them at all.
