The German Cafe in Solihull

Nice friendly cafe. Was served by a very polite elderly man. Food was not so bad. I had the vegan burger and my partner had fish and chips. Portions plenty. Nice if your hungry.

Lovely place with lovely staff and the schnitzels are amazing. The only thing I was really disappointed with was that in the past year or so the sizes of the portions shrank more and more. It used to be that we couldn't finish a portion and now after eating a full portion we still felt a bit hungry. Basically the size of the schnitzels is about 1/3 of how it used to be.

Always a great service here. Excellent coffee. Brilliant choice of food both Traditional German and English. Highly recommended.

Not sure where to start with this… the menu we have received had a very unpleasant smell. We have ordered some diet coke, and we have received a flat drink that has been poured in the back from a big bottle… not to mention how massively overpriced this drink was. Honestly if you are charging this much at least you can provide individual cans/small bottles of drink.The food was quite bad as everyting is fried in the same 2 pans over and over again. All we could taste was pure grease. The poached eggs are pre-made and not fresh to order.The girl in the front took a small plate off a table, wiped the breadcrumbs with her hand and put it back in the “clean” pile. The cook/owner uses the same tongs to pick every single ingredient that goes on everyones plate. The mushrooms, onions, tomatoes etc on everyones plates are displayed in the front the whole day in old butter tubs. When we left our clothes smelled as if we worked in the kitchen and cooked the food ourselves.Overall very poor and will never return again.

Very delicious! My husband had currywurst and I had weinerschnitzel with sauerkraut. So delicious! My husband was so excited to have the currywurst. The chips were nice and crunchy on the outside. It's a very cute little restaurant too! The server was very nice and smiled the whole time. I highly suggest a visit!!!

Popped in for a quick coffee ☕ lovely surroundings, beautifully decorated. The full English looked divine! Definitely will be going back.

I went there to have lunch with my wife to enjoy our private time without kids, however the cafe destroyed our moments!We ordered jacket potatoes and fish and chips: jacket potatoes is very hard like stone, cheese not melted, I feel it’s just put into microwave for 2 mins. The fish and chips, £10 for a baby fingers size fish, and reheat the chips to me. It’s totally not worth as a cafe standard.I believe I can have a beautiful moment with my wife but failed.Please reconsider if you want to go.

Food quality was awful. And very poor value for money. Paid £7 to be given a single sausage on a plate and a bread roll. The quality of both was poor. Then my wife’s curry wurst was no more than a plate of cheap tomato sauce with curry powder sprinkled on. I’m very much doubting the owners are German or German cuisine trained. The chips ended up being a lump moulded together, as in lift one and you lift your whole portion.When we first went in we were told a 45 min wait on food. When we said we didn’t have the time and left they ran after us and said actually it’s a 10 min wait.Dirty child seat, dirty table, chipped coffee glass.Overall poor service, poor hygiene, poor food, bad prices. Would not return. And I recommend you don’t waste your time and money trying it. This is one to avoid.

The German Cafe is like Weihnachten to Cafe Shirley's Christmas i.e. they are one and the same. There is definitely a Christmassy feel to The German Cafe. The outdoor seating looks so comfy, draped in false animal skins. Inside the theme continues. There is a range of false animal busts hung upon the wall, which I thought was humorous.There is a family feel to operations in this cute cafe. Two senior staff are in charge. They organise food preparation with front of house with German like efficiency. Order delivery was as smooth as an A-class Mercedes.A comfortable experience. If you're after a breakfast, brunch experience with a German angle on food offerings. Give The German Cafe a try.
