The Malt Shovel, at Barston in Solihull

Just popped in here after an event nearby, and I'm so glad we did. It's a really nice place, great character and very friendly and polite staff. That would have been good enough, but the fact that the food was absolutely amazing made it a perfect place to stop. I would recommend this place to anyone. Brilliant.

Lovely pub and restaurant. Very friendly staff and beautiful setting. Very excited to find real fire as well.Whilst didn't eat the food was looked great and the table next to us were very complimentary.Well worth a visit, I will definitely go back.

Amazing food and even better service! Our hostess Nora really took care of us and recommended some great food and cocktails. Mezzes were great to start, complemented very well with their fresh, homemade pita. For main I had an amazing pork dish which was indescribably tasty. Tunes were great too, and parking was no problem. Cannot recommend enough.

Very nice. I visited with my partner on Saturday evening. It was busy, but they appeared to be coping well.The atmosphere was nice, but with a strange mix of music, which at times sounded like it would be better placed on cbeebies. Not distracting though, just odd.The food was very nice, but each course was just slightly off being perfect. For example, to start, the ratio of pate to bread was off...either more bread or less pate needed. For main, the rind on the pork could have been crispier throughout or just removed, rather than being sticky and chewy on one side, and for dessert, the bread and butter pudding didn't need to be so big.It was all very tasty, be could just do with being refined a little.Staff were very friendly and made it a very pleasant experience.

Great roast, fabulous service and well priced. Would probably eat in the bar next time for a change of atmosphere, but otherwise a very happy find and well situated for a country walk

The food was very good, attention to detail and the flavours were amazing. The steak with the surf & turf was very high quality. Everyone in our party was very satisfied. The service was good, lovely with the kids.Highly recommended for a high quality lunch or dinner!We'll be back!

We took my Mum here for Christmas Day and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious (can't remember when I last ate that much in one sitting!) and the service was fantastic. Lovely atmosphere too, I would highly recommend. Well done and thank you The Malt Shovel, keep doing what you do.

Food,service and atmosphere was excellent the staff were exceptional, even though it was midweek lunch every table was booked.. Were visiting the area, so if we ever come back this way again we would return Definitely recommend a try
