Oh wow. Great find. On our way up to Bangor from Hampshire so decided to stop half way ish. A bit of googling and we found this place so booked a table online. The food was amazing. We had a cajun chicken burger, stilton and mushroom topped beef burger, and our two boys (age 12&13 with good appetites) decided to share a margarita pizza with cheesy garlic bread and skinny fries. Very good service, freshly cooked, home made pizza with tomatoes, home made coleslaw. Very tasty indeed. Everyone refulled and happy.

Excellent pub, excellent staff. Meals are great and the prices are great. Nothing to moan about. Kids eat free on Mondays. Always a bonus. I will visit here again. Probably Monday. 🤟😁

First time here nice pub, lovely people, food was piping hot,and large portion, only problem drinks quite expensive

Very disappointed. Staff were clearly having a bad day, bar person had awful attitude to customers bordering on rude, waited 15 minutes for drinks, when we asked waitress for them she told us they were very busy even though people had come in after us and been served. Food was tasteless, luke warm and did not look homemade. Didn't look very clean and the dirty rubbish bins outside where you walk in didn't create a good impression. Love the area for walks but wont be coming here again.

Great for a drink on the weekend. Nice and lively. Attentive staff and a good choice of drinks. Eatery area run down in need of renovation; charge a pretty penny for a cafe-style environment compared to others in town. Breakfast superb.

Staff were lovely and you weren't rushed. Mains, I had scampi and my friend had the vegetable lasagne, were delicious... don't order the Eaton Mess... very disappointing, was a very sickly yoghurty type concoction 🤮

We went here for our office Christmas lunch. We pre booked and when we arrived they were expecting us and the table was dressed and ready. Drinks order was taken and our starters were on there way. There was a small mix up with one of the starters but this was rectified straight away. The food was good and plentiful and the staff were very attentive and polite. It is very difficult times for the restaurant trade and i was pleased we stayed local to support a great establishment that deserves all the trade it can muster from locals and further a field. I highly recommend The Shoal Inn Tavern for its quality food, great atmosphere and friendly staff , well done everyone.Have a great Christmas and best wishes for 2022.DarrenCannock.

Lovely location but went recently and taken to sit at a table by a window with a draft and heater not working on a very cold day, , informed no tables available to move to as all booked.( we had also booked ) Sunday dinner was OK. Disappointed to have paid extra for lamb to find it was just processed meat. Did mention to staff but quite dismissive as busy.Although plenty of food on plate, apart from gravy, the meal tasted quite bland and processed food.. Had been before and didn't have same experience. Appears standards and service are not same at busy times so be mindful of this when booking certain days and times.

Booked last minute was pretty busy when we arrived despite that all food came out pretty fast and was nice and tasty especially the meat platter starter! 2 for £14 on some mains I had Ham, egg n chips and my husband had small fish n chips but to be fair it was huge I couldn't finish all mine very nice, service was great 2 from all the ladies that served us.
