The Black Lion Inn in Staffordshire Moorlands

Lovely local pub and friendly staff, the menu was better than the real thing. We had expectations that it would be really good due to all the reviews and we're a little disappointed when the food arrived. No gravy on the beef shin, green vegetables was just cabbage and the steak was ok but most of it was marbling which is normal for rib-eye. Overall a nice place and made welcome.

Went for a weekend lunch and tried the pork belly with crackling. I usually take a picture before I start but the dish was so inviting I forget until it was almost gone. Wow, it was delicious and highly recommended. We're only 20mins away so will return again soon.

Very lovely cosy pub did no eat there but food that was beening served looked and smelt amazing. Well worth a visit would definitely be going for a meal, staff were very friendly and welcoming

Superb local pub with log fires and dog friendly! Food and staff amazing with good portions! The kind of pub you can easily spend the whole day drinking and eating and made to feel welcome by the locals! Would love to stay in one of the newly refurbed rooms later on in the year!

Really friendly pub. We were staying in a local village nearby and was looking for an evening meal. Food was amazing and it was a really cosy atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

What an amazing place! We only stopped one night but we'll definitely be going back, it's in a beautiful area, the staff were really friendly and the food was out of this world 😋😋 the room was clean and fresh, But the breakfast, oh the breakfast we both agreed was the best we'd ever had, I had the full English and my wife had the veggie option, it's definitely worth a visit 😊

Absolutely fabulous evening with friends and with the bonus of live acoustic music. The food was excellent and the house red wine went down a treat 🍷🍷🍷🍷(my wife drove us home 🤗)The staff at the Black Lion Inn Butterton are spot on with attentiveness, friendliness and well balanced with correct service.

Well cooked, delicious food, way better options and quality than you average pub, clearly cooked with love and care. Both good vegetarian and meat option, also possible to adjust to other dietary requirements. Friendly staff, we felt very well looked after (including dog). We were told there would be a small delay with the food, but there really was not one. Much recommended, if in the area will be coming again.
