Venus Fish Bar in Stoke-on-Trent

Venus Fish Bar was my go to place for inexpensive good food. But it no longer is because on my last visit they have significantly increased the price on there food. Like we are all experiencing everything is increasing in price but very price is one BIG increase to many for me..In my opinion it's not because of there increasing wholesale prices It's mainly just greed!!!

Children enjoyed their meals , unfortunately for me Venus Fish Bar is not vegan friendly.

I've been using Venus for 3-4 decades and find the Owner & his Wife to be lovely people but in the past few years they've been being let down by employees.Tonight, just after 5pm, (teatime?) I ordered a Steak Pie w Chips and Curry Sauce. Both Girls said the Pie was only warm ("it's been in there a while" ??) and needed heating through in the Microwave,. I said I don't want it microwaved so the Blonde haired Girl offered me Chicken & Mushroom but I told her I really fancied a Steak Pie. She said she could give me a cold Pie, separately, and I agreed (although it cost the same as a hot one despite my having to cook it myself & heat the Chips too) I got home and found I'd been given a the warm Pie. The blonde-haired Girl told me she couldn't give me that because of HSE laws... in case I was ill (I'm not, as I know about food hygiene). I heated the Pie through but on cutting into it, found it was Minced Beef & Onion...not the Steak Pie I'd so been looking forward to.I hate having to leave this awful review because the owners of Venus are lovely people, but standards have been slipping. and they need to know so they can deal with this.So sorry.

***CASH ONLY***Overall a Decent fish and chips, however it's cash only which is a massive inconvenience when the nearest cash point is treks away. Suppose you gotta clean your dirty money somehow...💸

Nice friendly chippy. Great food portions for the price on special deals. We ordered 3 meals to take out. The thing we didn't realise was that the beans and mushy peas that came with them would be poured over the chips, rather than served in a separate pot. We all agreed it would've been nicer separately. 🙂

Very good service from the staff. They deserve every penny they are paid as they never stop.It's very busy and the portions are well worth the moneyFood is tasty and always cooked well.I would highly recommend a quick meal from here.

Great Chip Shop and value for money. Lots of choice and very efficient service from brilliant staff. Take Away or Eat In.

Good value for money. Nice food and well cooked. Good service. No extra charge for eating in. There's a few tables where you can eat.
