The staff were very friendly and attentive; clearly a culture driven from the top. The food was outstanding and service excellent. Have no doubts. This is a great place to stay.

A lovely place to stay, very handy if you are visiting the Cotswold Distillery. Our room was large and well furnished. It's a shame that a very large water stain on the ceiling had not been sorted, as that is all you can see, whilst lying on the bed. The downstairs bar/restaurant was also well appointed and in finer weather, there is an outside terrace. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the Menu options looked good. We chose to eat at an Italian Restaurant just a few minutes walk away, which was excellent. A tip - taxis are in very short supply in Shipston, so if you are going to need one whilst staying there, you must book well in advance.

Had a lovely overnight stay in this beautiful hotel. Room was large for a classic double. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern. Room and bathroom were both spotless. Breakfast was very good and Ben and his staff were friendly and efficient

We (5 adults) came for a meal for our sons birthday...he lives in the town. We have had light lunches at The George before and really enjoyed them. The food we had for this visit was excellent. Presentation was first class. Taste and portion size were very good too.The prices are not much more than pub grub....this is not pub grub.We have since recommended The George to friends and family as a great place to visit. Service is always friendly and professional.

The bedrooms were good. Beds really comfy. There has been a lot of money spent on refurbishments and it shows. The breakfast selection was good. However, coffee and juice are served to the table, no pots or jugs and the service is VERY slow. There is also a communication breakdown between the waiter and the chef. Any adjustments to breakfast were mixed up or not provided. We also booked in for an evening meal on both nights. We ate there on the Friday and again, service was VERY slow. We booked for 7.40pm and our order wasn't taken until 8.30pm. Food didn't arrive until gone 9pm. My husbands pork was tough and inedible. My spiced chickpea and sweet potato cakes were 'pappy', had no form and were burned on one side. They had been placed burned side down so I couldn't see. They were also inedible. We weren't charged for the pork but they did nothing about the chickpea cakes. Our friends ordered the Chateaubriand and for ÂŁ29.50 per person it was very poorly cooked and definitely not worth the money. We cancelled our booking for the Saturday night and went somewhere else. It was a real shame as the atmosphere in the pub was good and buzzing. We, as a party, felt the issue was possibly a shortage of staff but definitely needs addressing.

Our stay at the George Townhouse hotel was simply wonderful, the rooms were so charming, the food lovely and the staff very friendly. A particular thank you to Ben who made us feel so welcome, so much so we are planning to return later this year!Adam and Marina

We'd been out for a long walk so we decided to sit outside. Looks like there's been a recent change of ownership as they've updated their décor, which looks great. We had brunch and a couple of drinks. Service was fast and the food was tasty. The lady who served us was friendly and polite. I've always enjoyed going here and this occasion was no different.

Amazing hotel, bar and restaurant! We had two beautiful rooms for two nights. The George breakfast was super tasty and the coffee was gorgeous! We had dinner each evening - the sharing platter was delicious and our main meals the following evening were very good - the burger and the linguine. We were looked after during our stay by all the wonderful staff - Alex, Milly and Daisy were so friendly efficient and made our stay! The cleaning of the rooms was exceptional. Thank you also to the gentleman who checked us out & sorted out our bill! He was super professional and so friendly - we will be back! We loved Milly’s cocktails!!
