Incredibly big and beautiful room, with the theme Romeo and Juliet.

Stayed at the Mary Arden for a weekend to travel around the area, particularly Stratford on Avon. A very quite and scenic village. Will go again in warmer weather. Excellent hosts.

I would give a zero star it was far too noisy, dirty and uninviting atmosphere. Not sure why it's still on booking.com. it should close down. We drove for 2 hours and really wanted some rest but at 2am the music was so loud and the people were even worse. I love being in a busy pub but the owners were not helpful at all as they were just as drunk as the local guests. I have never experienced such dirty place. My bed was shaking from all the doors slamming around. Cannot warn people enough and avoid this place at all costs.Close the place down and take a course in catering and hospitality

Room spotlessly clean. I suppose furniture was dated but that didnt detract anything from the stay.Beer was nice and reasonably priced.The bar is of a good standard whilst still maintaining its old character.The staff there are both very helpful and attentive.I spent some time in the bar as a single traveler and the other customers made me feel very welcome , which made my stay very comfortable.I would highly recommend a stay here.Am in fact arranging another stay with them.

We stayed 1 night here to visit a friend. All other hotel enquiries were too expensive but that's typical Stratford so we managed to get a room at the Mary Arden Inn at £71. I wouldn't recommend it or stay there again. It was all very dated and in need of renovation which is understandable but no excuse for basic cleanliness. Our room was very shoddy and full of cobwebs. The paintwork needs a good wipe over, bathroom sink needs attention, lamp and ironing board need to be thrown out and all dust removed. It only takes a few minutes for a manager to inspect a room prior to the arrival of guests and had this have happened he would surely have seen the same as us. I presume that other guests will be arriving soon and they will see the same as us and be equally disappointed. In total contrast the pub bar was in good condition and worth a visit. So obviously priority is being given to the bar while totally ignoring the accommodation.

This is a tough review to write. So I shall do a review of two halves.First half, the staff. Excellent, so helpful and welcoming, they couldn't do more if they tried. Thanks.The hotel itself.....Oh. Welcome to the 1990s. Tired and in need of decoration is the kindest way of putting it. The reality of it is it need some major renovation work, which is a shame as the village is beautiful and deserves better, as do the staff and visitors.It is owned by Greene King, so its not lacking in financial backing, its just been neglected for a long time. The shrubbery bursting out of the building structure proves that.Don't expect food, the kitchen needs a major overhaul so isn't in use.The restaurant needs a major face lift too.If you were to spend the money on a good refurbishment and kept the current couple who are running it.. A winning combination.

I booked The Mary Arden Inn fairly late when there was not much available. Stratford is beautiful and is definitely worth a visit but I’m afraid I felt the Mary Arden was not. Recently taken over by Rob & his wife we received a pleasant welcome but our room & the general ‘hotel’ (I struggle to call it that) decor & condition took a lot to be desired. There were a few things that actually made the stay rather unpleasant including: the continuous bright flash every few seconds from the fire alarm box on the ceiling in our bedroom, the bed was very hard & uncomfortable, there were switches by the bed which did nothing and the only light in the room was solely controllable from the main switch. The room felt very pokey and was not tastefully decorated in a traditional style but rather tired & in need of maintenance & decoration. There was a bathroom, ummm it was functional but you couldn’t flush the toilet or use the taps late at night as the pipes made so much noise, it was not a nice bathroom and badly in need of an upgrade and basic facilities such as a toilet roll holder and a plug.When I booked I had the impression the place had a restaurant, but the kitchen had been closed/condemned according to the owner. This made it feel very empty and lacking in atmosphere.On our first evening we stopped at the bar before turning in but didn’t stay for more than one drink as the small party the landlord and the locals were enjoying was rowdy. There was a lot of bad language and larking about and no song requested from Alexa was played all the way through. For some of those tunes we were in fact grateful for that.Additionally there was a smell around the corridors and rooms probably due to old carpets.I was sorry the stay was not as anticipated, but the pictures and old reviews of the Google page did not reflect our experience. Perhaps in time the owners will be able to return this fine old building to the condition it deserve as it would not take much, only some investment.

Walked along the canal from Stratford looking forward to a drink and some food only to find it shut. No indication on the website... we'd checked before we left as aware that some pubs haven't reopened post covid. No notice of explanation on the door. Very disappointing and hoping everyone is ok...

Room outlook was nice. But I was shocked by the attitude when we checked in almost as if we had interrupted their day. As this was a green king I expected quite a good standard but we were not really encouraged to enjoy the hospitality of the pub. It was a real shame because I was so looking forward just staying in this historic place. The actual situation of the hotel is very very good. It may be different if we go back. But the windows don't open because the sash cords have been cut. It just seemed like it was uncared for. But that could have been down to covid.
