The National Herb Centre Bistro in Stratford-on-Avon

Lovely cafe centre with shop and garden centre. A very nice garden walk next to it. Well maintained. We had a special family event and staff went over and above to accommodate us in the Mezzanine area, including Linda who was a new waitress. I recommend their home-made cakes!

Adorable place for a stop if you are passing by. Loved the kids maze and play area, there's a nature trail, a coffee shop, good selection of plants and all the cute quirky gifts you could want if on your way to visit someone!

I love eating here. Lots on the menu, lovely staff and able to have a walk afterwards. What a view! It can busy at weekends so perhaps book to eat if you are travelling far.

The name "National Herb Centre" implies something quite impressive, of national significance. In reality, it's just a garden centre, and a pretty shabby one at that. Given the number of very positive reviews, I'm hesitant to leave a less than perfect one, but then again I notice that most of the good reviews are for the cafe, which we unfortunately did not visit. My review is therefore based on our experience of the garden centre itself, which is quite small and limited (though to be fair we did visit in January, not ideal herb-growing season I guess), the demonstration gardens very untidy, the toilets while clean were very smelly, and the children's playground pretty average. My three stars are for the nice walk we did around the nature trail.

Attended for a light lunch with my mother and grandmother who cannot go upstairs. There are some tables downstairs but three were empty with reserved signs on. Stood at the service counter whilst two employees ignored me. I needed to ask what time the accessible tables (ground floor) would be available from. The one employee then acknowledged me as she was walking out of the order area saying she would be with me in a moment. Only for the two people behind me asking “can we have a table please?” and this employee willingly dealt with them and showed them to a table. Then didn’t return to the service area for another 5 minutes and the other employee continued to ignore me.Extremely busy on a random Friday at 12:30. It’s not first come first serve but, if you’re rude enough you will get service and a table. I won’t be going back but this business won’t care as there is always more people pushing to get in. Avoid if you’re not up for the fight.

great place to eat - waiting staff delightful and caring. Fabulous selection of herbs, plants, gifts and everyone willing to help and guide you. Cant do much better than spend time here!

Lovely place to spend a few hours, plenty of free parking, with three half hour walking routes (which can be combined if preferred) accessible from the site. Loads of different things to look at inside and out, although plant stocks were depleted due to being out of season when we visited. The bistro was very welcoming... homemade soup with cheese & herb scone was very warm & filling - would definitely go back again

Interesting little place!The indoor shop was very quiet and a little strange in the stock selection (a lot of bric-a-brac type bits).The outdoor area was nice and tidy with plenty of plants on offer.The nature trail is really pleasant albeit with the grass a bit long in some places. Within two minutes of walking it was like being in the countryside!All in all, a nice little place worth just dropping by for a quick visit if you're going past.

Excellent place to visit. Dog friendly. Lovely nature walk. Interesting plants. Disappointed that there weren't more seeds available for sale.

6 out of 5 we say! Lovely, for an informative wander. Good meals, good service, good plants and such a grand collection. Loved it. Point of interest - disabled toilet IS available but in the kitchen showroom but one doesn't find this out until after negotiating a huge step and fighting with a self-closing door to the toilet where the info is inside!
