The Roebuck in Stratford-on-Avon

The lady that greeted and serviced us was warm and welcoming. Not much of an atmosphere as only 1 other table. I had the baked Camembert , I felt ill as soon as I had eaten it, so much so that I couldn’t eat my main and on returning home spent most of the night in the bathroom .

We had a pleasant meal at Prospero, however, it did not meet expectations. It describes itself as 'fine dining', however, that was sadly not the case. The lack of table linens and fabric napkins set an extremely casual tone upon entering. Food presentation was average although some of it was very tasty--in particular, the baked camembert with 'homemade' bread sticks and caramelised onions. Our main courses of ribeye steak and duck breast were nice but not memorable. Felt the £90 price tag for our 2 course meal with a bottle of wine was not great value. Prospero has some way to go to become a special culinary destination.

Food was good and of quality . Duck breast and lamb were excellent . Cheese platter also on point. Scallops & Desserts were very average . Price a bit high for the portion size and hence I’ve knocked off a star. Definitely worth a visit but people may find the price too steep

A real find! Has the duck main which was amazing - possibly the best I've ever had. My wife had the mushroom and avocado dish, also fabulous. Very friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended

The food was fabulous, the staff welcoming, and restaurant itself warm and nicely laid out. The only small negative is the location and frontage. If the restaurant was located 200m further east, it would be in a smarter area, and the frontage itself needs refreshing and uplifting. Indeed, we walked by it 4 times (the OpenTable location is not that accurate) and was even on the verge of not going in once we found it! Do yourselves a favour and look past the neighbouring shops and enjoy a decent meal.After reading some other recent reviews, we were a little worried, but this was unfounded. We had scallops to start, and were cooked to perfection, lightly seared and subtlety seasoned and cooked with samphire and smoked ham. Our mains were the lamb rack, which were very tender, beautifully pink and super tasty with mustard dressing. To finish we had the creme brulle and chocolate mouse, both were really good.All in all, this was a really pleasant evening meal. I can't comment on other people's experience, but for us it was really good at would like to see these guys do well. We have eaten and several other locations in Stratford over the past few evenings, from the Michelin star Salt, to Loxley's and then the Alveston Manor, and Prospero is certianly is not out of place when comparing quality and price.Thanks and good luck.

First time at this restaurant, and we wasn't disappointed! Food was amazing!! Had tomato and basil soup starter and a gorgeous 10oz steak for mains. Service and staff are second to none and the atmosphere of the restaurant was so welcoming, intimate and relaxing. We will definately book again on our return to Stratford 😊 would highly recommend.

Fantastic food and service! I'm totally impressed by the taste of all the dishes I tried. The scallops were perfectly cooked, the mushrooms with the chutney and brie had perfect savor balance and the mains just amazing. The staff was very friendly and kind. Totally recommended!

Great place. A hidden gem between a chippy and a laundry place but once you've entered you'll be taken by the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff.The food was amazing and the service was excellent! We chose from the special menu; lamb chops, garlic prawns, and cheesecake! All was very tasty and the bill didn't break the bank. Will definitely visit again when we're back in Stratford. Highly recommended!

What can I say?! Absolutely outstanding. We were staying in Stratford for the bank holiday weekend for a birthday break, I emailed the Scullery a few days before to book a table after seeing the reviews on trip advisor (pretty much all 5*) and I was not disappointed. The service was superb, the food was exceptional (every single part - from the melt in the mouth scallops, to the gorgeous sauté potatoes, to the honeycomb ice cream with home made warm dessert) and the atmosphere is laid back, classy, just perfect for an adult family or couples evening out.The waitress on the door asked who's birthday it was and wished me a happy birthday when we arrived which was a nice touch. The place itself is a little random location wise but still just off the main high street. It's a small and intimate restaurant and seems to have limited opening hours (only open 5-8pm on a Sunday for example) but that just shows that it's good enough to be picky about when they're open and it's still profitable for them! Price wise, it was around £80 for a three course meal plus a glass or two of prosecco for 2 people, well worth that in my opinion. If you have a chance to visit - do. You won't be disappointed.
