The Red Lion Hopwas in Tamworth

Nice garden but not enough choices on beer & a bit too expensive for the average family after the pandemic & tax rises.

We have been today to The Red Lion Hopwas. A warm greeting after booking a table on line. Great selection on menu, prices reasonable and really good service from staff......however, oh dear the carpet was dreadful, please replace it as soon as possible. A real shame because everything else was so good.

Does a lovely breakfast. Always found staff to be helpful. Has a large beer garden next to the canal. Food menu has plenty of choice. Worth a visit .

Absolutely amazing place. Took my son today who is adhd and autistic, he really struggles when we go out to to eat, yet today he has been the most relaxed I've seen him and even ate all his dinner and dessert.Staff are so polite and really seem to care that you have a good experience.My favourite part though is that it was warm and I could very comfortably sit with my coat off. Not something i can do in a lot of old pubs.Beautiful decor and just a really nice place to eat. Can't wait till summer when Iwe can sit by the river.

I have recently been 3 times since just before Christmas. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food is plentiful and very tasty. Great value for money. I have already booked to go back again

Having failed to book at another local pub we used the quick and simple online booking system used by The Red Lion. We booked a table easily for a time that suited us. The outside of the pub may be a little uninspiring but once inside we were we were greeted with a warm welcome and a nicely decorated interior. Service was quick and efficient. The menu had a reasonable range of food and the specials board had some interesting options. Our three choices included scampi and chips, pork in apple cider with mash and hunters chicken. Followed by ice cream, lemon meringue pie and caramel apple pie. All the food was well prepared and tasty. We had a nice meal in pleasant surroundings and were glad that we had visited this friendly pub.

Very helpful, happy staff, lovely meal, pretty beer garden on side of canal, large carpark, toilets clean, outside clean and no rubbish. Recommended.

Really nice pub with great food & friendly staff. Dog's are allowed in the bar area so great for a pint & a bite to eat with the dog's after a nice walk around Hopwas Woods.
