Booked for my mum and dad as a gift, on arrival they were sat upstairs in a boring corner in a room on their own. When they politely asked whether there was an alternative place to sit, there was not. After 15 minutes left alone out of the way. When they asked for their deposit back so they could go somewhere else they were told it could not possibly be returned. Apparently the owner did not have the time to leave the kitchen briefly to discuss it.Very frustrating experience, this review could have easily been avoided and not tarnished my parents' trip had the deposit simply be returned.

Food was good but not great. Drinks are bottled beers at extortionate prices. Service was good but as mentioned in other reviews Service Charge added to bill at 10%. This made our meal not worth the bill. We live local and eat out a lot. Nobody else charges 10% on the food and drinks. Lady who served us would have received a good tip but the lady who is in charge would not as she clearly has a superior attitude. Will not return.

Nov 2021Travelled from Spain for a Family birthday , six of us, we booked the private dining room upstairs.Parking is a little difficult on a Sunday afternoon so allow a little extra timeWe had to wait a little before being shown upstairs but the room was perfect for us to enjoy family time in an exclusive environmentService was excellent, discrete but perfectly attentive. Food menu was presented informatively and honestly ( the beef delivered to the kitchen was Below their usual standard so came with a caution)The food was excellent and presented beautifully.A perfect cauliflower soup, smoked mackerel, croquettes were amongst the starter, we all had perfectly cooked pork and all went for a delicious Brad and butter pudding.Great wine menu which we indulged as befitting the occasionThank you all for making an important occasion perfectSpecial mention to Deb who ensured that we left happy and replete.Would definitely recommend the restaurant and, if we were back living in the Uk, would be a regular customer

Food was delicious, absolutely outstanding. Loved everything about our evening. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are superb. Attentive and friendly without being overbearing or invasive.Highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

Ate here recently, was placed upstairs with service that was not quite as attentive when sat downstairs. Food just okay for the cost IMO.What really riled us was the mandatory adding on of the service charge onto the bill with a degrading experience when I reasonably asked this to be removed. This is the only restaurant I know of in Shropshire which uses this greedy practice - tipping should be at the diners discretion. Will not eat here again.

Second time of visiting, last time was 2014, quality food with good service team. Three courses £38 (Sept 2021) expect to pay a booking deposit as well. The food was excellent and the menu catered for vegetarians, not sure about vegan options. It is a small restaurant with around 8 tables. A popular choice so please book ahead.

Throughly enjoyable meal. After looking at the menus available and having an 11yr old and a 14yr old in tow, we decided that the Sunday lunchtime menu had something for everyone. It did not disappoint. Every dish was varied, presented and cooked to a very high standard. The restaurant was busy and we had to prompt for the butter for the bread, wine that we ordered and extra drinks once or twice, but this didn’t detract from a very pleasant lunch. The scotch egg starter is a treat and I really enjoyed the mackerel. Everyone had the beef and I had the belly pork. All were scrummy. Cheeseboard was nice and wine was good too.A small restaurant that knows its clientele and delivers very well. This is up there with my fav from the town. Will really look forward to another visit soon.
