Consistently good food. Nice and spicy too (the menu indicates whether it will be hot). Delivery has been unpredictable so I always collect instead.

Good value, lots of meat and flavor. Tommy who works there is a great guy.

The food is great by Telford standards and the prices are easy on the pocket as well. Quick turnaround time as well. Wishing the restaurant is open for lunch as well.

First visit Chicken ball batter was spongey and greasy either you aren't using the right flour or your fryers aren't hot enough.Beef in tomato bland, flavourless, meat was tough. Rice was stodgy. Ribs were dry.Today I paid nearly £5 for 2 bags of chips for collection due to a kitchen crisis. I find chip shop chips too greasy and as you were closest decided to give you another try.... Perhaps last time was an off day? they were raw in the middle. If your staff can't get something as basic as chips right then you need to retrain or rehire.

Whilst food was ok, we’d ordered a beef curry nd got a chicken curry instead. An unhappy husband who isn’t keen on chicken

Shanghai Star, is possibly the best Chinese takeaway in the area, great service and beautiful food. I can't recommend them enough. They deliver to Newport for a small charge, and are always reliable. Thank you so much Shanghia Star. Perfect!

I live in Newport and have been searching for a new Chinese since the only one that was worth eating from here went dramatically down hill (will not mention any names WAN LOI)Holy chicken balls Shanghai Star!!! I have so far tried your ribs, balls, chicken in black bean, crispy duck, salt and chilli chicken, spring rolls and crispy beef, chicken and mushroom curry and your special chow mein....every single one was plentiful, hot and dam delicious!!!Service is quite fast considering how busy you are and when you walk in you are greeted with a very clean open kitchen and the most mouth watering smells!!!If I had to say one negative then it would be having to spend £20 for some prawn crackers but you ain't losing a customer because of that!! I will be there for the foreseeable!!
