Excellent food and excellent customer service.

·

Lovely old Skool style Indian meal with fabulous orange mint sauce and really tasty chicken tikka masala!

·

Amazing food travelled from the Midlands and found the place. Did not regret a thing and even came the next day!

Our family love Spice Island so much. You are never treated as a number or as money in the till but you are treated as a person, someone who is either ordering a takeaway or to sit in to enjoy a night out. Food is always excellent, cooked to perfection and the prices are very reasonable. If when we have ordered a takeaway the guys chat to you, they get to know you which not only makes you feel inviting but it makes the waiting time pass quicker for your food. His last line to you is:- Well Sir your food has just left the building and should be with you shortly. Enjoy your evening. Goodbye.

Great food and service from staff who are interested in what they do. The biggest problem with Spice Island that it is tucked just around the corner, off the High Street. Although primarily they now do takeaway food, going in to eat is a pleasant and friendly experience.

So we arrived at 10.30pm, no problem. All was fine until we finished the main course when without asking they just thought us the bill! Can we have dessert or coffee please? No! came the answer we are closed now. So slightly surprised and a little annoyed we offered to pay by card. They then told us we couldn't pay by card as it was after 11pm! Begrudingly they finally accepted our card payment. Now, we are not trouble makers or causing any hassle to anyone but I feel they just gave us the bare minimum, took our money and chucked us out. If they had told us when we came in that we were against the clock, then fine. But this was just really bad. This was always our "go to" curry house in Newport, I can tell you that I wont ever be going back.

Great meal and very friendly and efficient service. Portions are not too big as can be the case with some Indian restaurants but we had enough to.eat and space for a drink afterwards. The naan breads are light and fluffy. We had Salmon Tikka which was excellent and Chicken Tikka Naga. The Naga was reallly tasty and very spicy and went well with a mushroom pilau. We will be back.

Don't bother!!!! Ordered food at 6:15 for 7:45 delivery. Phoned at 8:15 told food was ready they were just waiting for a driver. Phoned again at 8:50 to be told that THEY had CANCELLED our order 20 mins ago because they were too busy. Noone phoned us and it's funny how the food was ready then the order was cancelled.

We use Spice Island loads for take away or a night out. The staff are really friendly, the food great and the prices reasonable. What else could you ask for?I highly recommend them. They have a midweek special 4 course meal for under £10 too and you can take you own drinks.

I love the genuine authentic food cooked in this little back street restaurant, The staff are friendly and the food is pretty reasonable. I have been using this place for years, long before it became a restaurant, It was a take away that sold great food with the Balti being a special favourite of mine then changed to become a small restaurant then expanded sometime later. Give this place a try i dont think you will regret it.
