The hotel has nice rooms quite stylish however has important shortcomings. We were given a room above the dance floor and there was a band right underneath. The music was so high that you could feel the bed shakingNo hope of a quiet room until 11:30 after which anyway the noise from the pub underneath was very annoyingWhen we got into the room, it was freezing cold. When I asked how to switch the heating the answer was: it will start later as otherwise the pub gets too sweaty.… does it mean we freeze because the pub is too hot? What about a separate heatingThe bathroom was cleaned but the sink was not draining quite grossI would definitely not repeat the experienceIt’s a pity because the place has lots of potentialNot recommended

Delicious small plates. The waiting staff, all young people who were very attentive and fun. Made for a lovely lunch. We sat at a lovely table by the window.

Lovely place however went on a Sunday evening and was extremely quiet. Almost like a library, which whilst appealing to some, is not altogether what I enjoy. The love bands of a weekend however are fantastic!

Brilliant location. We had great fun, fantastic live band and the room was warm and clean and very reasonable. We will definitely be coming back as she finally agreed to be my other half 😊

Me and my husband have just spent 2 nights at the Malthouse. Firstly I would like to say that the staff are really friendly and helpful. The meal we had on our first night was as expected for a public house and prices reasonable. Unfortunately I can not say the same for breakfast. There were no cerals or fruit juice and were only offered one cup of coffee had to ask for a second. When our breakfast came it was okay but the toast was on the same plate as breakfast and the toast already buttered. We were never asked if we wanted white or brown bread either. The whole breakfast experience was very disappointing. We were in the Blue room at front of pub and good view of the river but it is a dark room not many lights and have to say very dusty dont think under the bed or draws have been cleaned for a long time. The bedding and the bathroom were spotless so not all bad.

I was profoundly angered by the restaurants refusal to replace an onion gravy with a cheap alternative. The restaurant preferred to lose six Sunday meals rather than accommodate two diners with an extreme dislike of Onion. The meal I ordered was no longer available, I was asked what I wanted as a replacement, however I had apparently to do this from memory. We paid for our drinks and left. This was a dislikeable situation

Staff were friendly but food was very disappointing. Fish and chips especially so. Fish was very oily and tasteless and the chips were very large chunks of undercooked potato and there was a tiny streak of tartar sauce hidden under the fish. Chicken burger was pretty dry and also pretty tasteless. Also had to ask for everything (serviettes, sauce, salt etc) as nothing was to hand.Last bad note..no staff members were wearing masks...Food-wise I wouldn't recommend but the pub does have a large outside area which is covered if you want to just grab a pint and sit outside by the river!

Whilst I wouldn't fault the restaurant / bar staff who were friendly & efficient throughout, the main courses were well overcooked. The rump steak (supposed to be medium) was dry and tough; the slow roasted belly pork was also over done. On a plus note for the food, the portions were of a reasonable size. For what should be a 4 star hotel, its looking pretty tired and gents toilet area could really do with a good 'freshening up'.Pity, I'd looked forward to eating here given other reviews .. not my night - on a different day, perhaps with a different chef it might be better.
