My family and I had a lovely mid-week lunch. Great varied menu, really tasty food and very reasonably priced. Service was first-rate too. Only downside was the weather....it was so awful we couldn't explore the garden but that just provides us with an excuse to return when it's not raining 🙂

Busy and bustling gastropub with decent food and service. Excellent bedrooms, ours had a fabulous loft bathroom with lots of extra space for luggage. Sue's breakfast service was friendly and generous, with no fuss made over our picky cooked choices. Great location too, not even 10 mins walk from town. Would stay here again.

First time we have been since the change of name. The setting is much brighter than previous and nicely laid out. The four of us each had a different meal and they were excellent. The desserts were also very good. Recommended.

So i went to the water rat for a light lunch, the staff and service was amazing. We were greeted by a lovely young man who's name i believe to be owen, he served us straight and accommodated our needs. A real credit to the water rat. The food was really nice and came out very quick, overall we had a wonderful experience.

Lovely friendly staff, especially Sue. Very clean rooms, nice and spacious. Stayed in rooms 3 and 6. The food menu is great, especially for someone as fussy as me. Tried most items on the menu between us. Big car park with separate parking for staying guests.

Not as posh perhaps as The Valley next door, but The Water Rat has everything going for it.Superb location (a lovely 15 minute stroll to The Iron Bridge), charming decor and a warm welcome from the genuinely lovely staff.Food in the pub restaurant is exceptionally good, that includes the breakfast as well as the dinner I had there on the first night.Rooms are, clean, individually decorated and furnished, offering all any guest could reasonably require of this type of accommodation.

The Water Rat is situated just outside the main village, but a lovely 10 min walk along the river. (Accessible from the car park). Takes you through a lovely park area into the village. Location ideal for exploring Shropshire. We had a Very nice room, with some lovely touches. IE. Cold water and milk available from fridge in main hall. Plenty of room to relax and a modern bathroom. Even a selection of different glasses, so we enjoyed a glass of wine in our room after a hard day sightseeing. Breakfast lovely and you could make up your own variation of the full English. Also had a meal on the Friday night…absolutely fabulous. Very friendly staff throughout our stay, always helpful and nothing too much trouble.
