Sunday dinner was disappointing. Long wait and not the food that we were expecting, based upon recommendations from friends. Beef was well cooked, however the veg was cold, the budget mini yorkies still practically frozen and the microwave cauliflower cheese (my opinion) both colourless and tasteless. Didn't help that the children's drinks took a while to arrive and they were also made to sit there with an activity sheet, waiting for crayons for a long time. Kids cordial at £3.50 a glass was excessive. The rest of the food would be reasonably priced, if it were freshly made and of the standard most other gastro pubs seem to manage. Must point out that the manager was sincerely apologetic and our waiter was very polite throughout. The place itself is lovely and we will try it again, but not for a while!

Pub was nice, staff were good, food not so good!!! Had fish n chips , had much better for a lot less from my local chippy, mushy peas were watery and tasteless, chips were very dry....fish was ok I guess. Sorry but overpriced, only had fish cos it seems they can't make a sandwich on a weekend which buy the way was £3, more than on another pubs menu ..... Won't be returning

love this place, I have been twice previously for a Saturday evening dinner and a Sunday roast - both lovely!Recently booked out the bottom room of the pub for a baby shower 50-60 guests and wanted to say a huge thank you to the whole team, service and food were all perfect! a special shout out to Danielle who I booked the event through and who made the whole experience super easy and went above and beyond to look after us, both on the lead up to but also on the day itself!... so much so a family member has already asked details to see if she can book for an event at the Durham Ox through Danielle too!I will be back soon! (with a smaller, quieter group!)

Poor service, ignored for quite some time whilst we listened to people in the kitchen having an indepth discussion.Menu disappointing, simple things you'd expect to come with a meal like veg or chips have to be added from the sides menu, which would have made it very expensive. We paid for our drinks and went.Shame really as on a previous visit all was good.

Was really looking forward to eating here.Lovely attractive spacious environment. Service good, but food was disappointing (especially considering the cost). Menu was attractive, but some items on the menu were not available. Roast beef Sunday lunch had tasty vegetables, but meat was so fatty and tough it was almost impossible to cut, let alone eat; quantity over quality. Dessert choice not available and what we had was very dry and bland, dressed up with coulis. A Miller and Carter offers much better quality and value for money.

Went there for a family get together. More on my partner's side of the family than mine. It's a big public house and it was quite empty. Probably due to the uncertainty of Omicron. I ordered the blade of beef my partner went for belly draft pork. I have to say my meal was delicious. Cooked to perfection. Also the pork was very tasty. Did not have a starter ( it fills me up). But had the apple crumble for dessert . Which l must say wasn't to my liking. I'm 67 and l was expecting more traditional crumble. But it was acceptable but not for me. The drinks were lovely. The service was superb. Polite courteous and efficient. The price of our food and drinks were very competitive considering the quality. All in all a very pleasant meal. I would highly recommend the Durham ox.

Very disappointing! £70 for Par-baked rolls and pork belly the size of a postage stamp! Unbelievably bad food for the money, served a selection of par baked rolls with a gallon of oil, packets of butter and cheap olives. Pork belly was small, bubble and squeak was basically mashed potatoes and they were luke warm. Marketing is very deceiving!

Very nice visit to the Durham Ox on Saturday. Very good service throughout the meal, good feeling of not being rushed between courses which you get at some places.Well prepared food with a varied menu with something for everyone.Good drinks menu although as I was driving I couldn't indulge. One nice gesture was when the drink my wife ordered was unavailable she was offered an alternative to sample on the house. Will certainly revisit to sample more of the menu in the future.

Lovely service. Had a wonderful Aperol spritz and the scenery is gorgeous. Would look to book a party here for a special occasion.
