Booked for Sunday lunch as the reviews were great. We booked an early slot for lunch early as my guest had to drive home mid afternoonThe menu listed most options were available Gluten Free on request. Out of 6 or 8 starters, my guest who is gluten intolerant, could have soup. They had no ingredients to make any gluten free items that day.The staff weren't aware of the menu items and as the kitchen couldn't make them fresh, it made us wonder what was home made and was served pre bought. The roasts were good, veggies were tasty, but the Yorkshires were not fresh, reheated as they had gone very rubbery rather than crispThe gravy served on the side was awful and more like a savory custard in consistency so it sat on top of the Yorkshires rather than soaking in to make them more yummyThey had run out of horseradish by 1230pm? There are shops in Kenilworth they could have bought some surely?A table of three couples arrived and sat next to us and settled in with drinks and went to ask for menus only to be told as they haven't booked for food they cannot order anything. Ive never heard of a pub restaurant not serving food to walk in customers. Very odd. Again, wonder if there is a problem in the kitchenThe staff were friendly, but came across a bit unsure of their menus etc, so a bit more training would help that, and make sure they have ingredients in that customers would expect - for example horseradish sauce when serving roast beefI'd go back for beers, but doubt Id go for food again.

My colleague hosted his birthday party in this pub. It’s located in a beautiful area. Food was toothsome and delicious.

We visited for family bank holiday lunch. On being seated we were given a very limited menu with a choice of 4 or 5 burgers. When we asked for a more comprehensive menu we were given one, but were told that it was a ‘limited’ menu. But even that wasn’t great 😐 The food itself was ok, but £105 for 4 burgers and 4 sausage rolls seems very expensive. I didn’t complain, because there was nothing wrong with the food, but I won’t be going back any time soon. Perhaps the fact that this pub was very quiet on an otherwise-busy bank holiday in Kenilworth should have told me something.

Great venue to catch up with friends: table in snug room almost like ‘private dining’; good menu options, very tasty and all served hot with fresh green vegetables (no over boiled mushy veg!); good selection of well kept cask ales; attentive, courteous and friendly staff. What not to like? We shall return!

Hidden Kenilworth gem. Lovely atmosphere, great service, girl behind the bar had an amazing Star Wars tattoo. Really friendly and proper home cooked food. Give them your custom. 100%

I live in Kenilworth and this place is history and would be a shame to see it go. The place itself is what an English pub should look like, but saying that I wouldn't want to stay the night there looks haunted.I've been once and I had so much hope for it but the service let it down, now they were all really nice people, I could over look asking for not ice and getting ice or not having what we ordered but having to wait 51 minutes to order is not good enough, the food was ok, if you have a fancy taste palette you will like it here. I think the waiter was very new but still.Would I come back? Yes but not for food and not often due to being a bit pricey. I think it's a nice place for a drink for a date or a meet up with some mates like a start of a pub crawl.

For me the Virgins & Castle is the best Pub in Kenilworth. It has great food with a well established Vegetarian / Vegan menu. One of the few local pubs where there is great quality food for all the family. Quiz nights are a blast and other events like whisky tasting are great for the Whisky curious. The staff are great especially when its busy they stop.Love this place its great value... Top tip try the Vegan Squash and leek pie with mash potatoes soFeeling lucky as they have just refurbished the "Racehourse" (renames No. 43) pub in Warwick which is a 5 minute walk from where I work, this pub is amazing too with the same / similar menu. It has a huge deck and garden to the rear, cant wait for summer.

Spent the entire afternoon in here eating, drinking coffee and working. Attentive staff kept the coffee topped up along with some nice nibble type food. Sausage roll and flatbreads with humous was really nice. Lots of history in the old bar, but a nice contemporary area too for dining and gatherings. Clean, well run and not too pricey! It's the oldest Inn in Kenilworth, but never saw a ghost 😄I'll go back again soon for more lovely food. Coffee was a good blend!

Sadly disappointed…. Only because it used to be (visit Kenilworth 3 or 4 times a year) so different to ‘any other pub’ with its menu offerings I think 🤔 (please forgive vagueness) the previous proprietor was from the Philippines 🇵🇭 and the food offerings were truly wonderful. Now, as I understand it, post LOCK DOWN new management and ‘standard issue’ pub food offerings. We were a group of five… at 7:30pm not late…we all chose steak 🥩…. Only three available … not a good start. Food was good and the staff were helpful…. Pleasant garden setting BUT it used to be so special. Now it’s just ordinary 😳 accepting lovely Kenilworth 👍…. Nothing to write home 🏡 about. Sad 😔

The service here is A1 with recommendations on mixers, spirits and meals. Ordered Bath tub gin with house tonic, which was amazing and the peppercorn was 👌🏾Ordered the steak, well done, and it was so tender. Loved it! Only downside was that we weren’t told what time the kitchen closed so we didn’t get a chance to order dessert, and after finding out there were no meat pies available, it was yet another bad news that wasn’t appreciated
