Claregate in Wolverhampton

That big armchair out the front kinda put me off as I’m a bit small and wouldn’t have been comfortable sitting on a giant armchair. But inside all the furniture is regular sized so I don’t have to get my mate to give me a leg up.They sell all manners of drinks, wet drinks, dry ones and hot drinks too. My Mrs wanted a Gin so she had one, I was happy with my lemonade. I’m defo coming back and might bring mad John from next door.

We booked meal for mothers day. Infairness the wife and kids meals were fine. However i had the large sunday dinner which was inedible. The size was brilliant but the gravey was congealed, meat dry and tasteless and the potatos were rock hard. Stuffing balls and Yorkshire puddings also really dry and tasteless. The server came to collect the kids plates whilst we were still eating and i handed her my full plate back at which point she didn’t even ask me if anything was wrong or if i would like something else. In fact at no point during the whole time we were there, even when paying bill did anyone ask if everything was ok. When they brought the kids meal I finally asked if my meal had been left under heat lamps for a long time as it was inedible(hence why i returned a full plate) and was advised no it wasn’t but would check with kitchen how long it sits for. I never saw her again and another lady came to present bill. Usually i would complain but i didn’t want to ruin my wifes mothers day. However i feel very upset now having paid £80 and not even had my meal. Seems the servers need more training and potentially fresher meals or severed to order not sat waiting untill customer ready. Sadly i wont return which is a shame as we used this pub alot pre lockdown

I visited the Clargate on Thursday last week for a meeting with work. the function room was excellent, and the pub provided us with a great breakfast and fantastic pizza lunch.The staff were very friendly, and more than helpful in all aspects of the day. I will definitely return in a social capacity.The function room itself was very well equipped, and was perfect for our meeting.Thanks for all you did on the day.

Shocking food and staff.Ordered a chicken burger along with scampi and chips.Chicken burger states it comes with mixed salad on the burger, pot of burger relish sauce and chips. All the food came out surprisingly quick. The female staff member (pretty sure she runs the place) dumped the food on the table and just walked off. As she walked off I asked if they had any mayonnaise. The looked over her shoulder as she walked off and just said, no sorry.Burger didn’t come with any salad nor any burger relish. Just a dry bun with chicken and chips.So with no Mayonnaise or any offer of any other sauces. I had to the get up and go to the bar to ask for some ketchup.Pretty sure the management is fairly new, won’t be long before the reviews show how bad the service is.Scampi was okay, hence the 1 star.

This pub is my local. And believe me it's the best in my area. Beer...excellent. food...excellent. staff and service..excellent. what more can I say. Very friendly very clean pub. Love it.

Christmas meal there was poor quality. Parents didn't to cause a scene. So emailed them twice only to be ignored. Very poor.It's a shame as always liked the pub and had wonderful meals in the past.In response to my review, you never contacted me back!

Fantastic venue with great staff. We held a team meeting here and the facilities were brilliant. The food was hot and fresh and the beverages were flowing throughout the day. We will definitely rebook here and cannot wait to try the pizza again. Thank you so much ☺️

Had a nice lunch here with a friend staff were lovely... it was quiet... the chairs felt a bit grubby and the tables that's the only complaint otherwise the tuna melt and chips was so nice

20th June 2021/2nd visit here:Popped in with one of my best mates for a lads meal and drinks after a busy Sunday.We had the large "Cowboy" burgers and wow, were they delicious or what....Yes they were, so yummy!! The Wainwright pints were perfect as well as the Estrella Damm's and went down so well with our delicious burgers, recommend the burgers!The staff again were absolutely brilliant, friendly and welcoming too but most of all...A HUGE SHOUT OUT to "DONNA" for her amazing service and friendliness, THANK YOU SO MUCH for making our visit and meal very special and memorable. Claregate's @ 34 Godsall Road, Wolverhampton is lucky to have her, yup as Donna is an absolute STAR 👏👏👍👊👍12th June 2021:Lovely pub and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Social distancing was maintained and a one way system is in place on the inside. Thanks to all for a lovely afternoon sat outside whilst having chips and drinks!
