Not very impressed with the hygiene and cleanliness of the place, had to ask 3 times for the table to be cleaned and sterilized after last customer. This is unacceptable hygiene standards after we are just getting out of covid-19 pandemic.

Service is quick, but the food quality isn't the best, myself, mother and sister went here today, my sister is vegan and she wanted the pie, spoke to a member of the bar staff about the pie and asked if it was dry because of not having no sauce or gravy and he said you are best to order something else, so she van the vegan burger and it wasn't the best wither, I ordered the steak with beef dripping sauce it come with chips and peas. The chips was dry some was cooked and some wasn't, the beef dripping sauce tasted like vinegar it was so sour, and it wasn't the best, I had the steak and it was cooked okay but was very chewy. So I left most of the food as it wasn't the best quality, my mother had the steak and ale pie with mash and the pastry was so hard she should cut it with a knife the filling was nice she said, it's a total shame I think because I've been there in the past and it was nice

Went in last Sunday. Had steak on a griddle peppers and onions on griddle were swimming in fat/oil couldn't eat them at all. Chips good. Also we lost something and have been trying to call them daily at different times and NEVER pick up. Did go there regularly now looking to go elsewhere.

Decided to pop out for a cheeky bevvy with a friend and it was just the perfect spot. So great that I brought my family back a few days later and took advantage of the meal deals on. The service we received from the beautiful Clare was above and beyond!! Beautiful wine with a decent price, great seating area inside and out and the food was fantastic value for money. We all left with a full belly and we are already speaking about out return. Thank you once again Clare for making the experience easy.

Took the family out for a surprise birthday meal. Booked it in with a friendly waitress on the phone. I’ve been once prior and despite the slight delay with my missing order I wanted to come again. This was a fantastic family meal out. All enjoyed a great range of foods. Being a bartender myself the drinks and cocktails were also fab! Not expensive at all and get exactly what you’re paying for. Thanks for the evening, definitely will be returning and recommending to friends and family.Only downfall if I was being picky was that our tables were abit sticky from previous customers and the lights were abit dim in our corner compared to the rest of the restaurant. But other than that 5⭐️s

The service was impeccable considering it was Christmas Eve. Food was delicious & staff very friendly & polite. The prices for food & drink are affordable & value for money.

I don't think I need to eat again. Ever. We went for a spot of lunch and ate a year's worth of food. Massive portions, all well deep fried (things deep fried always taste great) and delicious. Michelin Star it is not but tasty, great value it most certainly is!

Extremely poor service at the pub today. We went for breakfast to find they had run out of the vegi option at 11am. Party of 6, and not one of us ended up with the breakfast we requested, no burgers on the menu were also available. The waiter agreed a compensation for this inconvenience and offered a free round of drinks, however, soon came back to retract this offer. We do not feel like valued customers and will not be returning. Greene King are an established company, but this pub establishment is extremely in need of improvements. See the picture attached of their breakfast serving, which the waiter admitted he was too embarrassed to bring out to us. Honestly, this does not warrant a 1 star, but needed that to leave this comment

4th July 2021:After having been here on my own for some lunch, I told my wife, stepdaughter and her boyfriend that we would get together here for a roast dinner lunch on us!I booked ahead and asked for a "non-sports TV" room/table and we were taken exactly to there despite this request. We did get moved to the other quieter dinning side room/s but even the booth for 4 we were taken to had a small TV...!!Service was slow, drinks and food order only taken about 15 minutes after we were shown our table. We ordered two rounds of roast Beef dinner, a steak and a roast chicken dinner. There were No roast potatoes and instead offered mash or chips...and No horseradish as well! The roast Beef dinner was piled high but the Beef itself was really hard...leather and wr must've got the end drags of the Beef joint/sI so rated the Gatehouse but unfortunately not this time and we definitely won't be back.Never mind what my wife said about her Beef bits......so disappointing I'm afraid to say!Popped in here today for a spot of lunch and a pint....really impressed seeing it's right near the A449 dual carriageway road and a roundabout...Well organised, the staff were excellent, very friendly, welcoming, attentive and felt immediately at home.A BIG THANK YOU AND SHOUT OUT TOJESS (RIN), JON AND GRACE, the chef and the other staff too...WELL DONE ALL!!!👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍There is a good social distancing maintained, a big dining area inside which doesn't make it restricting or claustrophobic due to Covid rules. The toilets were modern, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. There are separate areas for those that want to watch the football/sport TV and those that want a table away from this with good music in the background being played at a good volume which doesn't intrude with people's conversations...I chose the latter. My pint of Abbot and a half of John Smith's ales was perfect and my spicy chicken kebab with cajun mayo and bits of chilli with the salad was perfectly cooked, fresh and delicious...I must confess to having a pudding too...don't know how I did but my STICKY SPONGE pudding with CUSTARD was so lovely and deliciously yummy!!The menu is generous for choices, covers adults as well as children and the over 60's too with special meal deals for this group. The prices are very good value and affordable in comparison to other pubs that I have been to over the last year or so.Overall, I will definitely be recommending The Gatehouse, Donington Grove, Mercury road, Wolverhampton as a lovely, very friendly and welcoming pub with amazing staff, great food and drinks at affordable prices too....
