The Island House in Wolverhampton

A terrible experience. The food deserves more than one star, but the waiting time was unacceptable (not to mention my order was wrong when I got it home).The poor staff couldn't keep up and were clearly stressed - as a walk in customer, I waited over half an hour for a simple order. Meanwhile, there were constant beeps from their "Uber Eats" device for incoming orders and many orders were collected.This is a management issue. If they can't cope with the volume of orders, they either need to stop accepting Uber eats orders while the back log is cleared, or at the very least, make it clear to walk in customers that there is a significant wait for food. You can't have it both ways!

I visited here as It had been recommended to me by 3 different people.My experience was not very good. The assistant asked if I wanted to order and as I went to speak she answered the phone. Then the first 2 items I ordered were not available. When we got our order home and opened it we found that some items were cold and the chips were not cooked properly.I have tried them but will not be visiting again.

Quality Donner kebab and chips. Can't fault it at all. Donner was hot and the pitta was not soggy like you get at some places. Chips were spot on too. Definitely go there again when i am back this way.

Lovely fish and chips. Piping hot and fresh. Fishcake was yummy. Tasty sauces.Only negatives:- I think a 2nd sauce should be included in the large meal deal or a single Large sauce.- Fish was quite oilyWill visit again 😍

The most amazing fish and chips. So light and crispy. Cooked fresh to order so always hot, fresh and tasty. Do yourself a favour, you won't regret it. Just fabulous.

We drive all the way from Birmingham every few months just for this place. To put it simply, the best fish and chips I've had in recent years. Their battered chips is thick, crunchy and tasty. Their cod is coated in a thick and crispy batter, it's really flaky and fresh, you could not ask for more. It's made fresh to order every time we have gone.Staff are super friendly and the service is very smooth. I highly recommend this place!

We drive from junction five of the m6 to eat here. The staff are ALWAYS friendly and the food is ALWAYS DELICIOUS. We have been eating here for a few years and we have never had a bad meal. Would highly recommend

We've had many a great fish & chips takeaway from the Island House but this time dined in and had a delicious Sunday roast. It took a while to arrive but it's well worth the wait. Quality food, generous portions, spot on! Even the kid's roast was huge, we'll definitely be back to enjoy the restaurant again.

I came here for an early evening meal with my family after seeing this place advertised by Google. We managed to get a table for 7 just walking in off the street, the staff were very accommodating and busied themselves to sort out a table for us within 2mins while we waited at the bar. The barman took our orders as well suggesting recommendations for our group which were taken up! (Island house fizz was gorge as well as 2-4-1!) Our waitress was great and took our order with care and attention. 2 of our group had a soup starter which was sublime.....never had a cream of veg soup look and taste that way, ever. Then when our mains came out we were all astonished at the portion sizes. They were substantial without being over the top! They also tasted absolutely amazing and there was hardly any food left over, which is no mean feat as we did have some picky eaters in our group. The atmosphere was lovely too, relaxed and friendly. We have now made this place our regular haunt now for family functions. They do have private rooms or a private dinning room, though not sure how many it seats. My only teeny, tiny criticism is that as it was quite a humid day in General, we found it a tad stuffy, but we still ALL enjoyed it all the same and will be back most definitely!

Brilliant!!!Went there to celebrate a birthday and had a fantastic night. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. We had the ribs which were great and the BEST mixed grill I've ever had ... and I've had a few! The 2-4-1 cocktails were fab! All in all ... 10/10 👍
