The Toffee Nosed Cake Company in Wolverhampton

Ordered two birthday cakes. I gave plenty of direction both verbal and via WhatsApp photos on the design and colour. The design and taste lacked- and both cakes were delivered 30-40 mins late. Not good when you have a schedule for the day and want a fresh product.Denise was not answering any calls when I was frantic wanted updates on the whereabouts of my cake. I wouldn’t have rated as low if it wasn’t for the following. Denise sent an intimidating man to deliver my second and final cake. I had never met him before and he said he was her husband. I said I would have liked to have spoken to Denise before making payment due to the various problems with my order. I had saved her a slice of her lemon cake to taste. He refused and was rude and aggressive and demanded payment- like a loan shark! And so I sent my husband to deal with him and pay him as we were in the middle of a party and he had upset me! Denise sent this man intentionally as she knew there would be discrepancies and wanted to avoid such a conversation. I did politely initiate a WhatsApp chat with her afterwards- she didn’t respond. Her Instagram does not match her actual product- all the hype but no backing. Worst thing is- she actively put down another local cake maker which would have given me a better price and maybe even a better product.The issues I had:The design of the lemon one didn’t resemble the design or colours I wanted. The taste was disappointing. Had so much lemon curd in it that it tasted sour- actually inedible. The point of being a baker is to know how to balance flavours.I gave feedback after tasting the lemon cake and asked Denise to ensure the design for the next cake fitted my brief and tasted a lot better as I was using this for a party. She apologised that the cake didn’t taste right and admitted that she didn’t refer to the images I had sent her when making the cake. She said she will try to improve this on the second cake.The second cake again didn’t quite match the photos I had sent- the design did not include a mixture of fresh flowers, piped, texture and sugar flowers. They were just piped. The colours used were not as requested. I sent a colour chart of the colours I wanted to match the decor. The taste however was much improved on this.Overall too many issues when you have given clear and simple instructions on the kind of cake you want. When a cake is inedible- it’s a non negotiable. Although Denise seemed like a lovely lady- the tactic of sending her giant aggressive husband was cheap and tacky.

I’ve ordered twice from Toffee Nosed Cake Company and both have been excellent. The first was an afternoon tea set for two, the second was my partner’s birthday cake (single tier lemon cake).Both were delicious, well decorated and reasonably priced. Lovely business owner/s too. We’ll be using them again I’m sure!

My wife's 65th birthday and was treated to afternoon tea by our daughter in Jersey. Our daughter chose toffee nosed cakes for this tea.couldnt have chosen better. Excellent product. Excellent service. Excellent experience. If you want something special book this company.made the day memorable

Stunning Afternoon Tea from the Toffee Nosed Cake Company!What a wonderful experience I had with Dennice from start to finish. Arranged for a very special ‘lockdown’ birthday gift, Dennice was brilliant, she responded quickly and talked through the afternoon tea, taking into account any food requirements.And the end result was fantastic, beautifully presented, the sandwiches were sumptuous, lots of filling and lovely tasting fresh bread. And then a plethora of delicious cakes to satisfy anybody’s tastes.It was very well received and talked about for the rest of the day.I’d like to thank Dennice for such a wonderful service.

I haven't a bad word to about this business.The owner Dennice is a really lovely lady, she did my birthday cake which was great and then I opted to try the Afternoon Tea which she delivered for my Moms birthday, we both couldn't get enough - best AT we have ever had, we couldn't stop raving about it! Great food, great prices -totally recommend.

The afternoon tea was superb and beautifully presented. There was a wonderful selection of cakes which were all absolutely delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was very good value. Thank you we had a brilliant tea.

Friendly staff but disappointing products. They do offer a selection of eggless, vegan and gluten free cakes. Having placed a large order however, the cakes received were dry, haphazardly cut into different sizes and shapes. Granted they are of different flavours (which is just the topping, the sponges were the same - tasteless and dry), looked like a child had baked the cakes. Perhaps the order was larger than what they can manage?

Lovely tearoom. Denise couldnt do enough for us. We all had afternoon tea, there was 4 of us and 1 was gluten free. The sandwiches were lovely and fresh( thank goodness no fresh salmon) which none of us are keen on. Great selection. Also the cakes were fresh and so moist, 4 different varieties and a scone with cream and jam. Lovely. Denise is so friendly and helpful. Recommend going.

My friends took me here for afternoon tea.... which was delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming, with a quirky vintage feel to the cafe adding to the experience. Following our visit I ordered an anniversary cake for my parents which put simply..... was FANTASTIC! Everyone who came commented on how great it looked and tasted. I can't recommend this lady enough, I'm definately sticking with her for all future orders.

I cannot fault the service or friendliness displayed. I ordered a large themed cake for my little boys’ birthday which did not give Dee much time at all given the short notice. She was accommodating and went out of her way to ensure I wasn’t disappointed. The cake itself was gorgeous and I would certainly use her again. Highly recommended.
