Food is excellent - fish & chips especially (fish is huge). 4 diners, mains & dessert plus drinks cost a shade over 80 quid. Good value. If you pick the right day, it's better if you eat outside alongside and overlooking the canal.

Had 3 'oap' lunchtime carvery meals & 1 fish/chips, includes sweets for £9.95 each. Good choice of Turkey, Beef, Lamb & plenty good quality vegetables. Good value for money. Staff friendly & very efficient.

Thought it might be more expensive from the look of the decor but actually really reasonably priced. The food had really large portions and was really lovely. The server was rushed off her feet but was polite, friendly and efficient throughout. Would highly recommend this place for a meal

This is the best carvery I have ever had. There is a good range on the menu but I always go for the carvery because it is so good. They are really generous with the portion sizes and have a range of meat and vegetables. All of it is absolutely delicious, especially the gravy and dauphinoise potatoes. Honestly there is so much food that you can definitely get away with having the small plate rather than the regular. The pub itself is really nice with a great view of the canal. The staff are also very friendly and attentive which makes a lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend! We booked the pub for my dad's birthday and they were so helpful!! They helped us arrange how much of the pub we would need and even recommend a live musician booked him and decorated for us. The whole night was amazing complete with great carvery, great music and a lovely atmosphere. Had around 30 people and everyone loved it. Staff were attentive and friendly. Thank you for making my dad's birthday such a good event for all our friends <3

Warm welcome to the Eagle and Sun this afternoon by the front of staff, quickly shown to our table (which was booked in advance). Drinks order taken straight away which were swiftly brought to the table with carvery token. Staff were pleasant serving the carvery and opted for one of each meat and all the trimmings. Food was very warm and plenty of gravy to my liking. Would like to have drinks menu and food menu on the table so you could see prices of carvery and desert options but nevertheless, really impressed and will be back again

Booked a table (6 friends & family at 5.00pm) for the renowned Eagle & Sun Sunday Carvery, & we all had a really good time. Delicious food, generous servings, real ale selection, friendly & welcoming service & good value for money prices, all of which contributed to yet another delightful occasion & delicious meal. Highly recommended.

Lovely place, visit often to break up my journey.Very nice staff, helpful, polite and chatty.Clean and never too busy or crowded.Great carvery, as someone who eats out all week every week, due to my job, this carvery really is one of the very best Iv had throughout the whole of the UK! It's bloody lovely!

Carvery is INCREDIBLE especially for the price.Advice for vegetarians - go for the carvery veg and get vegetarian gravy, it’s so good! One of the members of staff decorated a little space for my friend’s Birthday with balloons and a couple of banners. This was a really lovely surprise as we didn’t expect it.One slight niggle is that you can’t tip on card. In a Covid world it’s really important to be able to do this - and it was very disappointing to hear our tips wouldn’t necessarily go to the wonderful people on shift. If the manager is reading this, please make sure Louise got our financial thank you!

The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we didn't wait to long to get our drinks and food order taken. My pints of Doombar and Spitfire were rather disappointing as they weren't kept well and weren't chilled which would have been great on such a hot day when we visited. For lunch we had a round of Ham, egg and chips, two rounds of the Cajun chicken burger and a Bacon and cheese burger for myself all on brioche burger buns. All tasted good but we've had better burgers and Ham, egg and chips...Lovely moorings outside the pub with Hanbury Wharf on the other side of the canal although you might not always get a mooring spot here as they are popular with canal boaters...The only reason didn't give The Eagle and Sun 5 stars is due to the excessive loud music way into the early hours of the morning by musician singing and playing guitar with drums backing machine..This carried on until 00h55 into the early hours of the Saturday morning....! Maybe the management or owners should look at curtailing such music night's at a sensible cut off point...even midnight would have been acceptable.
