Superb dinner for 2 at Lygon Bar and grill. Great service, absolutely superb food, beautiful bread, lovely cider. Last day treat for holiday in Cotswolds. Loved every minute of it. All friendly, particularly our waitress for the evening. Thanks to all, would love to return and stay. John and Maureen Blake

Awful Room. This is my first ever review and is a reflection of how badly I feel this hotel treats its guests. We booked an Annex Classic room for 2 nights. According to the website these are supposed to have "an intimate terrace or they overlook the courtyard". When we arrived the room overlooked the flat roof of the kitchen. We weren't too worried about this initially as we were only staying two nights and planned to be out all of the next day. The room was very hot when we arrived so we opened the windows and went for a walk and drink before going for dinner. However, when we returned to our room after a lovely meal in the Bar and Grill we found the room smelling of cooking from the kitchen and the noise from the kitchen extractor fans was far too loud to sleep. We closed the window but that just made the room too hot. After not sleeping we decided that we'd had enough and wanted to leave and go home so we checked out by~7:30am. When we explained why the hotel gave perfunctory apologies and offered not to charge us for the second night! (Good job too) and I put it down to experience and that was going to be it.Then, two days later we then received a parking fine for £100 for staying in the hotel car park! I wrote to the hotel manager explaining about the room, how we left early and how furious I now was. The e-mail response from the General Manager apologised about the parking fine and said to ignore it but made no mention of the general comments about the awful room, etc.I'm left with the opinion that they don't care at all about their guests and I will be sure now to warn off anyone else who considers staying there. It's a shame as the hotel looks lovely and the food was excellent, but despite booking 2 months before we arrived we were given an awful room and the hotel refuses to even acknowledge that they might have a problem.

Our stay at this hotel was brief, but the grounds are beautiful and the building itself, being a 700 year old castle, was an extremely unique place to stay. We would have enjoyed our stay regardless, but we were blown away by the staff. Through no fault of their own, the door lock in the room they first assigned us was broken. They bent over backwards to try to fix it and when they couldn’t, they upgraded us to one of their nicest rooms. It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced a hotel staff so willing to go above and beyond, while acting as though it’s entirely their responsibility to do so.Restaurant and bar in the hotel are good, and the hotel is close to a couple other restaurants as well as a grocery store around the corner. My one complaint, though this is no fault of the hotel, is that every shop in town closed down at 5PM on a Saturday, so if your intention is to explore the area, make sure to leave some time in the early afternoon or morning to do so.

Loved the atmosphere of this wonderful hotel! Gavin, the concierge, was amazing. He went above and beyond for us arranging last minute transportation, all with a smile on his face! All staff very nice and professional. Loved that our room came with a fan! The cocktails were delicious as well. Will be back!

We had an unforgettable week at the manor.Service is truly five stars and everyone at the hotel are very accommodating and kind. Highly recommended for a base to roam around the rolling hills and attractions.

Beautiful old hotel with so much character.... unfortunately with character comes a front door that doesn't close properly resulting in a huge cold draft in the nearby snug.Evening meal in the restaurant was warm at best, bordering on cold. Kings room was amazing, as was Broadway.

First time in Lygon Arms, and our experience has been wonderful. Whilst we stay in another hotel in the area, we chose to have our evening meal here, and it is fabulous, for starters we either had Cod Creek or Oak Salmon - nice and flavoursome, then our main course, we choose to have Beef Wellington for two, this was cooked to our liking and just right - medium rare, they were generous portion for each, it came with mushroom, tomatoes and mash potatoes with what look like spinach, plus gravy all very delicious, we couldn't ask for more!

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but the spa is pretty magical. Staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating, and I had the most incredible spa treatment from David - I can’t recommend him highly enough. The hotel building is beautiful, well worth a look around.

Lovely building and good sized room, but unhelpful staff who refused to help us clean a jacket that our dog had thrown up on in the car. No plug sockets in the room. No mini fridge. The vegan options in the restaurant were expensive and pretty tasteless. People talking in neighbouring rooms sounded like they were inside ours as the walls were so thin, we could hear every word. Wouldn’t come back.

Lovely setting , good food , shame about the service. For quite a pricey restaurant we expected a warmer welcome, we were seated at a table next to the door when 80 % of other tables were free, we asked to move and the waiter was quite abrupt and didn't really want to help. We then moved to a better placed table and enjoyed our food.
